Default American Racing Wheels on Track?

Anyone have any experience with American Racing wheels (good or bad) on track? I want to be able to use up some of my 18" scrub tires on my C3, but finding budget friendly 18" wheels with a shallow backspacing for the older car are hard. I have some C5 and C6Z wheels I used on my C4 but I would rather not use a 2.5-3" spacer required to run them on the C3. I was looking at some of the Torq Thrust style wheels. They will not be used for competition, just some HPDE here and there. Thoughts?

Torq Thrust wheels have been used on race cars since they came out way back when. They are plenty strong and fairly cheap although not the lightest. What back space are you looking for and do you have flairs.

I know American Racing was popular back in the day, but wasnt sure about the new stuff being of good quality. Im not concerned about the weight, no competition just want to get out and have fun.

I will be putting flares on in the very near future. Looking for something in the 18x10.5 - 18x11 with 4-5" of backspace. I can get custom 2 piece Classic Torque Thrust in 18x11 and custom BS for around $395. Pretty good deal, just wasn't sure if they would be safe with Hoosiers and tack loads.

I have run the Torque Thrust IIs in 17x8.5 with Direeza IIs on my '79 for 3 seasons of HPDE, approx 130 laps on a 1.9 mile road course, routinely braking hard from 125ish down to 40 in 400' with no problems.

Have vintage raced on AR Torque Thrusts 15´s for years. No issues.

I have a set of TTIIs in 18x10 that I was using but did have concerns about longevity so I upgraded to a set of Weld RTS 18x10.5, which then gave me the ability to run wider tires too.

I have a number of track days on the TTIIs with no signs of any issue so who knows... I think I am going to put them back on for a track day at COTA in two weeks.

I saw your thread over in C3 tech about fitting the wider wheels under stock fenders. I do like the look with the Welds, but for the occasional use on track they were a bit too high in price for me. Nice to know your TTIIs are holding up well though.

Sounds like I should be OK for once in a while use on the Torq Thrusts.
