Default HPDE Insurance

Which HPDE insurance is my best bet? Going to take the car out for my first event in April....

Thanks,

PS. I called my insurance agent, they are checking with the underwriter to see if I can use my regular insurance.

Thanks.

Lockton or Ontrackinsurance.com

Good luck with your regular policy but 99.9% chance it excludes coverage.

I use Lockton for every event. No experience with claims, lets hope I never need it

Key provision in most regular insurance policies - event held on a surface designed for racing. It won't even cover you for parade laps

Check with the organizer to see which one of these they have registered with and go with that. Cost will be somewhere around $200 for the weekend

Maybe its different because of my age and the price of my toys (I just put 25k for the camaro, the vette is at the "push it over the cliff, won't hurt too bad")

I believe it is due to the value of his Z06. My new one is significantly more expensive than my C3.

Lockton. I had to file a claim and it was an easy process. Also know of someone who had a total loss and had their check in a timely manner.

Here's an article I wrote last year about insurance. It might help. One big issue is the dedicated track car that isn't registered. That brings up a whole new set of issues.

Adam at the NCM is a good guy for Corvette owners. Give him a call before you do anything.

Lockton will provide multiple event policies that help cut the costs. They will also build a special policy on request. Last year I participated in a BMW CCA event on Fri through Sun and stayed over for the NCM event on Mon/Tue. I called them since the web page was going to have me insure the car for two events. Within a couple of hours they had a special 5 day policy on the web page that knocked a couple hundred dollars off the total.

As for insuring my C7Z it will be around $600 for the BMW CCA coming up on the first weekend of April. However, I have been considering insuring the car for the amount required to pay it off Vs the total value.

One thing I learned last year is you need to decide whether or not to make a claim if you do have an incident that barely exceeds the cost of the deductible. When I lost the left front wheel in T1 at VIR last year the damage exceeded the value of my deductible by a few hundred dollars. However, if I made a claim for that amount that meant I might not be able to get subsequent coverage with them for a certain period of time after that. That is what that little check box indicating you have made a prior claim means.

I have used ontrackinsurance and lockton. Ontrack is a little cheaper. Hopefully I never have to use it. I insure my car for what I think I would sell it for rather than what it would cost to replace. It would cost far more to replace the car and the cost of the insurance would make going to the track much more expensive.

OTI is a fair amount less expensive. Claim process with underwriter was outstanding as well.
Lockton will do special policy as mentioned above. Got one for a day at a private club that are not on the website.

I use Ontrackinsurance.

For a 2 day single event policy with $25,000 of coverage it's $170. It goes down if you buy multiple events at a time.

Check us out, www.ncminsurance.com/hpde. We use Lockton and some of the premium comes back to support the Corvette Museum.

Default HPDE Covered by my highway insurance

I'm going to NCM Motorsport track on March 19-20. Checked with my Ky Farm Bureau agent and underwriter in person last week. I am completely covered with my "normal hwy insurance" as long as: (1) I am NOT racing, (2) I am not being officially timed for the purpose of competing against other participants, (3) I don't get any rewards, e.g. trophies, cash, etc. My truck insurance will cover the damage to the car and trailer (trailer up to $1500 ) that I am renting to take the car to the track.

I have been using Ontrackinsurance for 5 or 6 years now and have been happy. While I have not had to use it I have talked to several who have and said they pay out right away.
