Default What wheel size/offset for C5 track & big brakes?

So I am looking to go to a square setup. 18" all the way around.

Are 18x10.5 able to fit on the front or would 9.5" be better?

What about if I decide to go to a big brake setup? What would be the recommended offset for big brakes?

I don't want to buy a set of wheels only to find out I need to buy a new set of wheels to fit a big brake setup.

Any helps would be appreciated!

C5 Z06 rear wheels (18x10.5) are the default go-to for going to a square setup. They work well in front as long as your tire isn't too tall. 660mm tall tires will work but you'll have to watch the ride height and may not get full lock when turning. They do clear most typical big brake packages that people around here are running as long as you're not trying to run a 15" rotor.

I run Stoptech ST60 and ST40 with 18" Kinesis K28 wheels, but they willl clear stock (rear) 10.5X18 Z06 wheels I believe.

Like Scooter70 suggests, the C5Z 10.5 X 18" rears work great for a square setup and will clear many big brake setups including this one. Wilwood Aero6 14.25".

There's some pictures in this thread of my new TSWs and some 285s. They are square 18x10.5. They fit great and clear everything. They're really inexpensive for what they are.

Hopefully these help.

Just went through this agonizing process myself, reading a ton, etc, led right back to the most sensible seemed to buy new rear 18s for the front at the reasonable price of $300 each, just like the above guys suggest. The stock brakes are no longer adequate so went with the AP Racing endurance kit, (ouch $$$ but problem solved, no doubts) which fits the 18's. Can't wait to try it!

why run the extra weight of the 10.5 vs the 9.5 and only run 285s?
just curious

I don't think people have had much luck cramming the 285 RE-71R on a 9.5" rim. There's a thread where they've been discussing it. I think the sidewall is simply too short and the tire too wide.

A lot of things I've read about putting a tire on a rim states that stretching a tire slightly stiffens the sidewalls and prevents deflection. I had my fronts at 27 psi at the last autocross and the wear still wasn't at the top of the sidewall triangles. I didn't want to run it any lower than that. Pressure didn't seem to matter when you have proper camber.

The 18x10.5s are EXTREMELY light. Going to a 9.5" rim would save 0.20 pounds per rim. Our cars are 3100+ pounds. You're not going to notice this.

gotcha ill look into that. ive had no issues with 285s/35/18 on 9.5s. they have a 10.5" tread width, ill have to look up the 71Rs to check tread width.
looks like the 71R 285/30/18 are 10.3" tread width.

im sure the stretched tire give more responce. is poping a bead a concern? ie when hitting a apex curb while cornering etc.

ive watched the gopro footage of my tires in the corners, its amazing how much the tire pulls off the rim in cornering.
