Will my C7 Z51 with x-pipe pass 90DB limit?

Sorry thought you were doing the day after the IMSA race... I was there, and to my knowlage there may have been a couple that where popped for sound, but they made corrections (mechanical or driving) and finished the day on track.

Well it's good to hear they were able to make sufficient adjustments to keep driving.
Time to buy a helmet now and possibly tow hooks

No meat ball flag on a 92db day with the baffles closed on a C6Z. 3rd gear around turn 5 and full throttle past the sound check shack with no problems. I am curious about how close i was though.

You probably had plenty of margin.........I have successfully run 90db days at Laguna in my C6Z with baffles closed in WOT in third gear.

So should I not run in track or sport mode in an attempt to keep the car quiet?
Touring mode would be the only other option I believe but am afraid the suspension will suck.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but fvck 'em. They chose to live near a race track for crying out loud.
Fun fact: 96dB is 4x louder than 90dB.
I did some testing at the NCM MSP on Wednesday and I have some good news for you. At 50 ft, a C7 Z51 with no front or rear cats hit the meter at 96 DB. Great news right? So, in an experiment, I switched the exhaust to "stealth" in the engine sound management screen, it lowered the sound to 90.1DB. Mitch Wright is the GM at MSP and conducted the test himself.
Stealth mode does indeed work. Have fun! One day I will do Laguna!

I used to have a db app on my old phone. Not sure how accurate it was, but at least you could test relative loudness. Once went in a store with my wife and the sales lady was talking so loud she hurt my ears--meter was in the red, thought that was about right...lol

If you need it, DashControl will hold the flaps closed 100% of the time in sport mode. Or cycle them open and closed with the mirror switch as much as you need to.

Ok so I ran the entire day in sport mode with stealth mode selected in the sound management settings. No flags all day!
Thats with a catless borla x-pipe.
On my last session I would swtich back to sport sound after I passed the sound booth, then switch back to stealth right before the sound booth and I was able to hear the growl on the straight aways!
Its pretty simple to toggle back and forth, just have to remember to do so before the sound booth. I pretty much had the track to myself so I was able to remember but if I was actively fighting off someone behind me or trying to catch someone Im sure toggling between sound modes would have slipped my mind.
Laguna Seca is awesome!!!!

Well 3 track days later here's what I've found
1. In stealth mode (valves closed) you will pass all day long
2. Valves open and x pipe = 94db. Caught a flag for this but I was dying to know if it would pass or not.
3. Another guy with stock c6z did not pass. He was at 93db

I figured out that you don't have to "wire" the valves closed. On a C6Z just pop the actuator arms off the mufflers, close the valves and position the actuator arms so the arms hold the valves closed with tension. I didn't know if this would hold the valves closed for a whole session, but was pleasantly surprised that it held for the entire day. Once you understand how to do this you can do it in about a minute if the exhaust isn't too hot. If it's hot, oven mitts work OK. With the M2W set up, I left it on the always open. That way the arms don't move back and forth. I don't know if that would cause a problem or not. If you don't have the M2W, you might want to remove the fuse that controls the valves and keep the arms in one position.

A muffler/resonator with variable control is available from Varex Mufflers and may and is a way to control your sound at noise restricted tracks.
Oh, and Mazda Raceway is in the middle of very expensive homes now, on a hill side facing the track, and the track is a County Park and we know how a none motorsports county park official my swing when it comes to sound.

Race tracks are not airports, they make a constant noise all day long, were airports are more now and then, and they (airports) do have noise restrictions.
We don't have to make a lot of noise to go fast.
