THE TIMES AND DAYS FOR THIS RACE ARE DIFFERENT, SO PAY ATTENTION!
THERE ARE TWO SHOWINGS OF THE RACE.
THERE ARE TWO SHOWINGS OF QUALIFYING.
THERE IS ONE SHOWING OF PRACTICE 2.
NOT ALL SHOWINGS ARE ON NBC SPORTSNET THIS WEEKEND!!
LIVE QUALIFYING WILL BE ON CNBC!!
THE LIVE RACE WILL BE ON CNBC!!
The PRE-RACE show is integrated into the schedule for the race.
The post-race show "F1 Extra" is shown immediately after the race show
whatever time that may be. NBC schedules "F1 Extra" to start 2 hours after
the start of the race but, in reality, it's always shown immediately after the race
regardless of the time. The simplest way to make sure you record "F1 Extra" is
simply to add enough extra time to the race broadcast recording to get (a) any
extra time that was needed to record the entire race including any delays, and
(b) "F1 Extra". My standard is to add at least three hours (!) just to
make sure I cover most eventualities. That's what those big drives are for )
I pull this info from from my Tivo's schedule. I have no guarantee that
it is correct but it usually is. I also double check it with the NBC Sports
NET schedule. Caveat Emptor.

Race - Live Showing Update (sort of)
Racer magazine has posted their TV schedule for the coming weekend and they also show the live race happening on CNBC. They list the race times as 7:00 am - 10:30 am (Eastern.)
But here's the deal... Sochi is 10 hours ahead of California and 7 hours ahead of New York. (Sochi does NOT use daylight savings time.) Bernie's schedule (F1.com) shows the race starting at 3:00 PM Sochi time. That's 8:00 AM Eastern and 5:00 AM Pacific.
So just what CNBC is going to do with that extra half an hour at the start of the show remains a mystery
Anyway, I now reiterate my guidance for recording/watching the live race. Start your recorders at 4:00 AM Pacific time (7:00 AM Eastern) on CNBC and record for *at least* 5 hours. And just to be safe, record the reshowing of the race at 1:00 PM Pacific (4 PM Eastern) if you haven't already watched the live show.
Btw, NBCSN is, as always, doing this so they can show British soccer.
Sheesh.
I have updated the schedule to reflect this new info.

Formula 1 must wait a few more days to find out about future engine rules, after a much heralded vote on changes was unable to go ahead on Tuesday because not enough people were present at a key meeting.

edit:
I just checked the Tivo and nothing has changed on that front. And there's zero mention of "F1 Extra" anywhere.

Spoiler alert!!!!!
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!
Ok Kvyat is definitely at fault for that one.
Looks like he actually hit Seb 3 times.
First time DK completely overcooked it into the first turn, he sez "the rear brakes just locked and it was almost like somebody push me from behind"
Who's in charge of the brakes on that car anyways????
Then immediately after the first hit, you can see from the aerial shot he gets very close to Seb again and a left front wing piece comes flying off the Red Bull, I think from contact.
Then of course there was the big torpedo where he punted Seb out of the race. Kvyat said Seb slowed a lot, which is somewhat true, but there were two cars to the inside and in front of Seb at that turn going about that same speed, so I'm thinking DK is in for some more penalties, like when Grosjean first started and was running pretty loose.

Race thoughts:
1. Kyvat reminds me of Vettel in his first couple of years. Seems to be an excellent driver, very aggressive, but not the maturity to use it very well.
2. Good run by Hamilton coming up from 10th. Seems like Merc has just about figured out the launch clutch gremlins/shortcomings from the first 3 races.
3. Once again Haas scores points. The first was a stunner; the second maybe chalked up to beginner's luck. Then the wheels came off in China (I think), but then Grosjean races hard to an 8th place finish this weekend. 3 out of 4 races in the points? Hey, folks, we may have something here!
4. Good to see McLaren getting more competitive.
Have a good one,
Mike

The engineers. The rear brakes are fly-by-wire and connected with the "ERS" charging system. So if it's not perfect you can get exactly what he described. I'm not saying that is what happened but it's not a simple matter of the brakes being like they are on most cars (or race cars, for that matter.)

Not "somewhat true" just "true". Watch Kvyat's on-board video. Vettel essentially backed into him on that big hit.
Here's a tweet from Kvyat today: "He suddenly started to brake when I was 1m behind him. I'm not superman, I don't have this kind of reaction."
Remember, this is racing. Regardless of what happened at the previous corner, Kvyat has every right to expect that the racing continued at this corner and will not expect to be "brake tested". So, first hit = Kvyat's fault. Second hit = not so much. I thought that as I watched it and I think it even more now. And once again I say that Vettel has taken on too much personal responsibility for Ferrari's fate this season and he's not handling it well. He's making mistakes because he's not 100% focused on just winning races for himself and his mechanics. Now, instead of being an emplyee of an energy drinks company, he's "racing for Ferrari!" He's carrying the hopes and dreams of every Italian racing fan, every Ferrari factory worker, and his Ferrari/Fiat bosses. That's in his head and on his shoulders. That's a lot of weight and distraction.

"We cancelled the first in-season test in [Barcelona]," said Sauber on Twitter. "There are two reasons:
1. We will not introduce a car update at the Spanish GP.
2. We do not have a young/test driver available that fulfills the requirements."

Just too funny.

Bernie still doesn't get it. Las Vegas does not give a rat's *** about Formula One. Period. And in that town a couple of "demands" that Bernie will be, or is, making will get him laughed out the door:
1. "It has to be on the Strip"
2. I get to keep 99.4% of any profits PLUS the sanctioning fee.
In this country the NFL *might* swing a quick pickup-up game at the south end of the Strip. F1? Yeah. Shut down the Strip for three full days? Right.
Vegas *exists* to make money for those who own/run Vegas. Those who stand to profit from such a race are the hotel owners and the restaurants. Those who stand to lose = the taxpayers who will be sold a bill of goods.
It's not Baku, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, or China, Bernie. Few people here are impressed nor will they BE impressed once they read up a bit on your game.
Sheesh.
