Rival S vs RE71r. Worth the wait?
So I'm competing in BS this year. I had the RE71 on my mustang and loved them. I'm on stock 17/18s. I've had the re71 on order since February and they just keep getting pushed back. My tire guy called and said they are now pushed back to July. Currently I'm on General Gmaxs and they are horrible. I need to do something. If they even do show up in July I'll already would have missed 3 events without sticky rubber. Should I just go with the Rival S or wait for the RE71?

Safety Car
I ran Hoosier R7's autocrossing my 70 past 4 years, 15".
Went to 18"Rival S this year. Very impressed and after 1st event the Rival's performed every bit as good as the Hoosiers.

Rich Willhoff smoked them at Thunderhill on Rival-S' during the Optima ultimate street car shootout qualifier for the Northern CA west coast region. If I have my facts correct, he managed 152's at Thunderhill on those "street" tires. I can't even come close on slicks. Great car, great driver, and really good street rated tires.
The forum won't allow facebook links and that is all I could find, but you can google "rich willhoff optima street car" and find lots of info on his results from last year as well as qualifying for 2016. The point is the Rival-s is available in Corvette sizes and is fast. Grassroots Motorsports just did a test on similar tires so you can check for their results too, just be sure the tires you want are available in you size.

I personally think you can't go wrong with either tire, they both drive so differently it will really come down to personal preference.
I spent extensive time on both tires last year.
I ran the first half of last season on 275 re71's and 18x10.5 square wheels partially due to wheel selection and partially due to the delay in 315/335 Rival S. They were pretty good and I finished 2nd in a pair of Optima USCA events against a bunch of cars on the bigger Rival S's
Mid season the 315/335's became available and I did some back to back testing of the 275/10.5 square against 18x11/18x12 315/335 Rival S setup and found that the Rival S was about .5-.6 seconds faster on a 35 second course however they were much looser and not as precise feeling.
That is most noticeable when running them back to back though, as I've grown accustomed to them I've been able to push them just as well as the re71.
Size for size if I had the choice I'd be on the re71 every time, but when either size requirements or supply shortages force you to choose one or the other I think you'll still be fine if you can adapt to the handling difference. Looking around the recent SCCA AS results list, CAM results and Optima events you certainly won't be limited by the tires.

Has BFG started or are they going to start making Rivals in a 19?
the poster asked about the rival specifically, which they don't make in 19's at least according to Tirerack. that said, the sizes you mentioned in a re71 would work for c7 base wheels
