My 1989 C4 with a Lingenfelter All Aluminum SBC, Tremec TKO600, Carbon Fiber Hood, Mike Maier, Inc. Custom 6-Point Cage; Full Interior with Momo Seats, OEM Glass, Baer 6- Piston Calipers with extremely heavy 14" rotors on all 4 corners, Forgeline GA3Rs (18X11 & 18X12 1/2) Extremely heavy BFG Rival S tires, Carbon Fiber drive & half shafts, two gallons of gas, no driver, comes in at 3080 pounds on the east coast and 3090 pounds on the west coast. In the very very near future, I will have a Carbon Fiber Rear Bumper with a 4-5" spoiler to replace the OEM bumper.

I got my shafts from Dynatech. They are in Troy, MI. They are just a tad lighter than the aluminum shafts. The main reason I went with the carbon fiber shafts was for the reliability factor and if they do break, they probably won't cause any damage like the metal shafts. They say if the carbon fiber shafts do break it would be like a broom flopping around.

Carbon fiber driveshafts are actually a vintage part. Dan Gurney first used them back in 1987. They were able to raise the rpm limit from 8,000 to 9,000 rpm by switching to carbon fiber shaft. In 1988 Cars and Concepts were able to raise the red line on Tommy Kendall’s Beratta 10 percent just by installing a carbon fiber driveshaft. In both cases there was a severe harmonic vibration with the metal driveshaft that imposed an artificial rpm limit.
