How far out from the upright does that make the shock?

The shocks are back from Penske.
Seems I was wrong, it did NOT bottom out.
The shock managed to take a side load.

Looking back I remember clipping an apex.
That may have started it to fail.
The pothole just pushed it over the edge.
The shock got twisted as the mount came apart.

new set of mounts is $250
then I'd have the modify them

Update

FINALLY had both the time & the parts to get my car back on the road

I kept the Penskes in the back, but I went back to the factory spring no more coilovers in the back
