Default 305/35/18 nt01 as front tire, c5

Ordered these tires as a square setup stepping up from nt05's. I've heard of folks running 315 fronts in other brands. Anyone have experience with this setup or know if there will be rubbing?

I have a typical pfadt street/track alignment and am lowered 8mm

When running 315's it has a 30 sidewall. 315/30/18. I would change your order.

I've called up discount tire and changed my order to 315/30's. I thought going slightly narrower would be better for rubbing, after some searching I'm learning that 1" difference in diameter actually causes more interference issues.

Dan, take a look at this. This can be helpful in gauging aspect ratio's.

I don't see the nt05 on either discount tire's website or tire racks website in the 315/30-18 size.

If you have brake ducts they will rub through on wheel lock. My 275s even rubbed a bit.

I run 315/30/18 up front with no issues on a 18x10 forgeline front wheel

I have the NT-01's this go around. Moving from 295 NT-05's. I couldn't turn my old tires past one full rotation of the wheel so I'm used to that

Good to know, thank you for sharing. The 315's are both awesome and scary wide compared to my 295 nt-05's Name: image-2593292279.jpg

I'm planning on buying square NT01s on rear Z06 wheels soon, also moving up from square 295 NT05s. I was going to go with the 305, they were only 0.2" taller in diameter and 0.7" wider (according to their website) compared to the 295 NT05s. I had read the 315s fit better, but your picture has me a little worried. I already have steering stops in the rack and still rub a little on the brake ducts. After you mount them up and run them I'd be curious on both the fit and aupgraded performance. Thanks!

Miguel,
I actually had both the 305/35 and the 315/30 delivered on the same day. I'm shipping the 305's back tomorrow, so I'll snap a pick for you of the height difference, it's more than you may expect and significant.

Here we go!
Wasn't expecting such a difference from a 30 to a 35 aspect ratio. Hope this helps others when they search. New tires have stickers on size and are nt01's

These pics have a new un mounted 315/30 next to a 305/35 next to a mounted 295/35 nt05

Thanks Dan, the 305s are massive! I'll go 315s, looking forward to the extra traction. When is your next event? Mine isn't till late October.

Dan, how did you like the 315 nt01 on track? Square right?

I've run the square 275/17 nt01 and nt05 so far. I'm on the nt05 now and seems I'm going to get MUCH LESS life out of them compared with the nt01s. Thinking to go with 315/18 next. Pricing is great on the 17s though.

Josh,
Yes, I have the 315/30's on the front and rear. I liked the setup, the tires were a noticeable increase in overall grip versus the nt05's. My observations are basic, but here they are:

The -1.8 degrees negative camber (front, rear is -1.0) that was ideal for the nt-05s was not enough for the nt-01's. I was rolling over the sidewall to the arrow markers. I'm removing the UCA washers and taking the car in to try to get more camber for VIR in a couple weeks.

Tire squealing or feedback is very different. The NT-05's squeal a lot, and the feedback as you get to the limit is easy to hear. The NT-01's have a lot less to little feedback.

I think there was a loss in top speed on long straights. At summit point i'd hit the low 130's at the end of the main straight and last trip i was at 126 or 128. Plus I believe I would have had a higher exit speed off of 10.

Cold pressures start a little lower than the nt-05s. 27 on the 01's and 29 on the 05's

I've only used them once, so i don't have any feedback on tire life versus the nt-05's. My 05's lasted forever, in fact I think they are still usable. I find them easy to overdrive now and wanted a better option for the track.

Hope this helps
Dan

Thanks for the comments.
How about responsiveness going to 315 on 10.5" rim... very noticeable on track?

Dan H, Mountainbiker saved you some grief. I have been running 305/35-18 Nto1's square, but they rub in to numerous places to mention. I raised the car, but still the annoying scuffing, especially the front fenders under braking. I'm curious if the 315/30s stop most of it--sitting side by side sure looks like it. The other thing about the 315s on stock rear wheels is some guys say they take some getting used to because they flex more, some say it's a tad spooky until you adapt. Opinions?
