Thanks Han Solo. I think I'm good, but I'll keep this thread book marked.
As far as I know, my starter was original. Even with just 27K miles on the car, it was still an 8-year old part. I don't drive the car that often, but preliminary results show that the new starter is working perfectly. Even though I haven't had the chance to test hot restart, I'm pretty confident I've got the problem solved.
