Improved Racing is selling a newer version for the LS7 that includes a built in oil scraper. Also it doesn't bolt into the bottom of the the oil pan like our original versions. It is one assembly that attaches to the windage tray mounts. They have different versions for LS2/3 and LS1/LS6 batwing wet sump motors as well. I don't see anything new listed for the LS3 dry sump or LS9 engines though. The only original dry sump engines that get this new style is the LS7.

In talking with Jason from Katech a couple of years ago about the blue and red pumps he mentioned that the blue pump is fine for engines with stock type of bearing clearances. The red pump is preferred if using the oil squirters or having loose bearing clearances for race motors.
I have two of the original style oil pan baffles installed on my engines (LS9 and LS3 427 dry sump engines). They did require removing of the factory windage trays.

i noticed it mentions at the top is for ls2/ls3 wet sump.
but then at the bottom mentions a LS7 option, but doesnt call out dry sump. are you sure that fits in the shallow LS7 dry sump? or is it for wet sump versions in hotrods and motor swap cars?

yeah i meant it only goes front and rear, or side to side. not both/all 4. i cant tell which.
my LS1 baffle had 3 sides completely enclosed, side, rear and other side.
just wish i knew which direction the baffles were protecting on both brands.

From memory: the pickup is toward the left side near the rear of the pan. Aviaid trap doors control oil to the F and RH sides.
I'll double check tomorrow when I look at the pan...
Yes, that is the arrangement.

Im trying to decide which baffle to go with.
Improved Racing
$199
Aluminum
Bolts to 2 existing pick up tube bolts inside the pan
baffles are front and rear(slightly wraps around right side)
Aviaid
$250
Steel
Bolts to floor by drilling 3 holes in oil pan (better seal and less likely to rattle?)
Appears to baffle front and rear
pics of improved installed

Correction to my response re: Aviaid baffles:
The trap doors are front and back, not F and R/H side.
I just finished making a scraper and modifying the stock windage tray to clear the Aviaid.
That Improved stuff sure looks nice... Ishihara-Johnson makes an LS7 scraper too, for $80? But they were 'away from the shop' for 4 weeks when I called!
