Need Help With Competent Alignment Shop Near Me
I installed coil overs on my C5 and will soon be installing front and rear bump steer kits. Which bump steer kits do you guys recommend?
And, I am located in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Calling local alignment shops, they have never heard of a bump steer kit and none have experience with setting up coil overs.
I don't mind driving East, West or North. Where do I bring this thing where they truly know what they are doing?
Thanks

Well, I put coilovers on the car. Lowered it quite a bit. Haven't had it aligned yet, but just from looking at it it does look like the geometry of the tie rods is a good bit off as opposed to the way they were before. Driving it, it does "dance" over bumps. Possibly a bit of bump steer and not having the shocks tuned yet. Not sure. I'm just pretty sure that a bump steer kit won't hurt. Slight more maintenance but I don't mind.
Thus, I figure I will go ahead and put the kits on. Then, I will need to find a shop who knows how to properly set it all up. There are none in my area that have any idea. I don't mind driving a few hours to get it done right.

You need to find a race shop. You may not need a dumpster kit. Or, a bump steer kit may make things worse.
You won't know any of this until you measure the bump steer.
I would find a good race shop and have the car corner balanced and have the bump steer measured. This could easily take an entire day and it won't be cheap but it will make all the difference in the world.
The shop needs this type of equipment.

Go see Jim at MSR Houston, or talk to Apex Auto Works in Alvin, TX, they can take care of you - They will use Jim, but take care of drop off, and pick up, and anything else
