Cool, so 285/35/18 could be a decent RS3 alternative, depending on the price point.

The RC-1 slicks are pretty cheap and perform decent, a lot of guys like them.

I would say these are at least as good or better than the RS3

every maxxis tire ive ever known, be it offroad, motorcycle, or whatever has been crap. basically a cheap tire, that lets you drive on it, but performance isnt a word id use.

that being said i would LOVE a cheaper alternative to RS3s (already one of the better values)
i kept an eye on the new kumhos too. but everyone is saying they delaminate terribly after a few sessions

We're running the 245/40-15s on our RX7 chumpcar and they have good grip and wear very well. I'd say they are for sure a good RS-3 alternative. All the testing has been on the small sizes so it will be interesting to see how the 275s and 285s perform.

I ran the Maxxis MA-V1 when I first started doing DE weekends, it was a great tire and held up well.

I hope you are reffering to the V720...

Great find OP!

I was hoping to see at least a Y speed rating, but fail trombone.

Sounds like new options for the C5? Its always good to hear about new tire options. But it does look like those are made in Taiwan.

So far in the 305/30/19 size, I have had zero problems with the Kumho V720 delamination. They have been on the rear of my C5Z for 12 Autocross laps and then moved to the rear of my 3rd Gen for 60 more laps. Still have at least 2/3 tread left with very little outer shoulder wear. My buddy just did Optima Fontana with the 265/35/18 front and 305/30/19 rear V720 on his 2nd gen and they did great, zero signs of issues after the hot road course sessions.
