Default C7 GrandSport at COTA

Hey guys, just wanted to share a video of me on the C7 Grand sport from this past weekend. I really enjoyed the car!

I was not really aiming to get fast laps, just to have some fun.

There is also a C7 Z06 and a friend's GT3 in the video.

Overall the Grand Sport with Z07 package is the perfect choice for the track! I never considered a Corvette for the track before the C7, now I have configured at least a dozen models on Chevy.com!

Cheers,
Andre

In a car with that much torque you really don't need to downshift to second gear. Wheelspin coming out of a corner is not good technique.

Nice to see someone who can drive turn the nannies off and get after it.

Why did the Z06 keep letting off, was it running hot?

And whats under the hood of that white M3? Damn son, it'll get it!

Is that a stock motor/exhaust? Where is the camera mounted that is picking up the exhaust sound, which by the way is wicked! Thx.

I agree not any need to drop below 3rd. All you were doing was wasting rubber and slowing yourself down.

I was looking to have fun more than going fast.
BTW at 35mph exiting the tight corner before the long straight the 3rd gear would not be faster than 2nd and for sure it was less fun!

It is stock motor and stock exhaust. Stock everything!
I had an external mic mounted on top of the license plate. Probably to close to the exhaust since it picked up a bit of "rasp".

Didn't trust to leave it hanging on the outside...

That's the best angle that I could find.

Thanks!

I think the grand sport with z07 just wants you to turn everything off and drive. such a great, driver's car.

Unsure about the Z06 but that thing was fast on the straight! Damn!

The E36 M3 was basically a race ready car with a great driver (who missed a couple of shifts! ). Yes it's faster, but by the time he is done loading it on a trailer I am almost arrived at home. On vented seats Street/track car FTW

Although it weighs ~100 pounds more than the GS, it has almost 200 hp/lbs. than your car.

I think the GrandSport has been a great idea from GM.

Cool video - I actually like the camera angle - something different. What are you using for an external mic? Is it linked to a gopro or? Sound is awesome.

Nice video, thanks for posting! What tires are you running? A lot of oversteer, but you are on top of it! LOL I had that debate with an instructor about 2nd gear and 3rd gear 2 years ago. He was right, spinning ain't winning and although 3rd felt slower I was 2 seconds faster. I was able to carry more speed w/ toyo R888's in 3rd gear. But hey you were having fun, which is what counts. I am intrigued with the GS w/ some mods for the track. Good info thanks !! Curious to see how they play out with a lot of track time. I have a very modded C6Z Zo7 and was impressed at spring Mountain with the C7 Z51.

Thank you all.

I am still drooling at the online configurator. truly a great car!
The tires where the stock Michelin Sport 2 that come with the z07 package: fantastic tires but they wear out quickly (of course, you will say, with all your powerslides!).

Very nice. It seems like the Grand Sport is really the track ready Corvette the Z06 was supposed to be. I've only heard good things and not one complaint. Track ready off the showroom floor.

Link didn't work. How about just the brand/model?
