Default Tall guys and helmets

At 6'4" I'm having problems finding a helmet, snell sa2015 for autocross with a small enough shell. My old helmet is a sa2000 and its fine. I've tried a couple different brands (cant recall which ones off hand) and had to send both back because the shell is ridiculously big and adds about another inch over my old helmet which makes it impossible to wear it in the car, C5Z. I don't want to have to try and modify the seat base or mount to get me lower but may have to. Anybody have any suggestions?
Edit: I just found that M rated helmets are acceptable in SCCA autocross. This may make a difference as I believe motorcycle helmets in general have a smaller shell design.

I'm not 6'4" but I do have a long torso. Thinking you're definitely gonna wind up with a lowered seat mount for extra headroom. I have a prototype mount I'll be finishing up that puts the seat right on the floor if needed.

The group I run with alloys dot approved, so I have motorcycle open faced which is significantly thinner on top.

Interesting. I put a Corbeau Evolution X seat and mount with slider on the drivers side, which lowered me about an inch and gave me enough room for my old helmet. I was thinking I may need to eliminate the slider.....But then I don't know how I'll get to the rear mounting bolts without the slider. Its a conundrum to me!

I assume this is with stock seats? Any pictures you could share or a timeline?

Your avatar shows a C7, so I guess you have a C7 coupe.

Do you have a transparent roof?

I'm only 6'2", but long torso. I have a 2016 C7 coupe and have both a body-color top and a transparent one.

When running with the transparent top, which does not have any headliner, I get an inch or more additional clearance for my helmet over the body-color one.

If you don't have a transparent roof, perhaps you could remove the headliner to get a little more clearance.

Have you tried an Impact helmet from Bill Simpson's company?

Also in the market for a 2015 certified helmet. I'm 6'1" but also a long torso. Current 2005 helmet grazes headliner with seat all the way down. Will check out Bill D's recommendation.

What year is the C5Z? Mines an 04 so it had the thicker headliner they started using in 03. if you can find a headliner that is for the '02 or earlier model years you can gain around 3/4" in headroom.

I was told by a race equipment shop owner that Arai helmets were most likely to have a slimmer shell design and allow for more headroom. I tried on a Bell and a couple others I can't recall that were no improvement over my current HJC as far as shell thickness. I liked the way the Arai fit best and intend to buy one to test whether I can use it with stock seats in my C5Z.

Yes I do have a C7 but I am setting up an 02 Z06 for a dedicated autoX car.

Mine is an 02....I thought about removing the headliner altogether, do you know about how much that would gain me?

Thanks for the link, It looks like they are all full face, I want an open face.
I found out the SCCA autoX rules allow for a SNELL "M" helmet as well as the SA. The M is for motorcycle, I think motorcycle helmets generally have a smaller shell, haven't looked yet.

You may gain about an inch and a quarter to an inch and a half. It's been a long time since I've had the headliner out so my memory is a bit fuzzy on the exact measurement.

I may have to see about pulling it out, if I can gain an inch+ that would be very beneficial. I'm not sure the rules for "street prepared" allow removal of it though, I've got to look into it.
