Still no track feedback as that won't happen until August but wanted to show everyone the difference in a 275 Nitto NT05 vs 275 Federal RS-RR. Granted, this may not be a 1:1 as the Federal is mounted on 18's and the Nitto's on 17's but still should give you a good idea on how wide these run. They seem to be in line with a 295.
Still think these are a great budget sqaured setup for the C5/base c6 guys.

It appears that Federal has listed a 245/40-18 and a 275/35-19 so my hunch is that the 275/35-19 runs wide and would be pretty much a direct replacement for the base C6 285/35-19 rear.
I had a set of RS-R's on my previous car and loved them.

If you mean reason for not tracking, #1 they are on the small side (for rears) so I would probably be stuck in "oversteer mode" most corners, also there are other tires that are better known quantity track tires.
And that tread pattern, obvious it is designed to appeal to the fast & furious crowd sitting on a tire store rack. Yee gad. But for a street tire I like the price point, they'll do. Hope they will eventually go one size bigger on an 18. Eventually.
Btw I have a few miles on them so decided to give them a little run from a roll and they grip.

I bought a set of 255/40r17 and 275/35r18 that I mounted on magnesium rims as I couldn't pass up the price of $560 for the set. Have run an auto cross event last month with them and took first in BS beating new sti on re71s with seasoned driver and ran .5 second off my buddies c5z in AS who's had it since new. Ran first track event yesterday and they held up well with no chunking drove to the track with -2* and -1.2*, they do roar on the road as mentioned. Hope that helps, Chris

Has anybody heard rumors of Federal developing a wider version? One club I drive with is running TT events with 1st -3rd getting a set of Federals if you're dressed with them. I just don't think I can compete with the guys on cups2's while on 275's. I'd sure as hell give it a try if they made a 285 at the least and I'd 'run til I won' if they had something in a 315 variety.

I picked up a set to mount on to some C6 Gumby's as early season & practice autocross tires. Indeed they run on the wide side with 235 up front and 275 rears sitting on the base C6 wheels.
Given that they are a practice tire, I've run them on sealed asphalt as well as the test and tune course in Lincoln. I've found their characteristics similar enough to the Hoosier A7 though obviously at a lower grip level. On the roughly 40 second test and tune course, where we managed a 41.9xx on A6's at Spring Nationals, the Federals were within the expected time differential, clocking in at the 43.5-43.7 range.

You want really hard tires and a huge gas tank. Changing tires and filling the gas tank is a real waste of time. 0 mph average. Don't even think about brake pads.

I've run them at 3 autocross events on my C5Z06 now. I'm doing AS, and I have 275-18 front and rear. I've actually been pretty happy with them. The compound seems about on par with the Hankook RS3/original BFG Rivals. Of course I would like it to be wider in the rear. It's a little hard to get the power down at times.
Currently on stock suspension, but my Strano bar and revalved bilsteins will be going on shortly.
Overall they are a fantastic bang for the buck at about half the cost of a set of BFG Rival S. We don't have a huge AS turnout at the clubs I do locally, but my current setup has been enough to win against the Rival S in those circles.

I just got back from a track day with these and some impressions...
Compared to the NT05 I had previously these are MUCH better. Better initial grip, last longer before getting greasy. It must be said today was not hot at all nor humid. 65-72 degrees. I would say it would get greasy after 10 -15 minutes of 9/10ths. However, it was easy to cool them off after a few turns and get back at it. I am running 1.8-2 up front and -1 in the rear. I'd also add that I felt these were happier with lower pressure (hot). I first ran 35-37 hot and then 32-33 in a later session. YMMV
Bottom line for the money (half of Rivals or RE71's etc at $550-$600) it is a great deal. Wish they came in wider sizes though...

What sizes are you running in the front and rear of your C5 in BS?

More feedback - if you are ok with fitting a very wide 275 on C5 or base C6's, this tire is fantastic! I just got done with a 3 day HPDE and think they like the mid to upper 30 PSI range. I really really like these tires

Did a track day on these with a 275/35/18 square setup on a 9.5" wheel, impressed with the grip and they didn't get greasy until I really started driving like an a-hole. As mentioned they are very loud on the street (mud-bogger loud) so I will only be using these on the track.

I've done a track day also on 275 square and though these were great. Ended up at hot 33F/34R.
I noticed only noisy on black top surfaces... but I don't mind the noise. R888Rs were much louder.
