Looking for Camber/Caster Tool Recommendations (C5)
Hello All,
Been to e-bay and there are several types of bubble gages available for the DIY.
I have a C5 and was wondering what tool brands you would recommend to perform a DIY alignment.
Thanks in advance,
Kevin

I'm sure there are many good products on the market.
I personally bought and use this one:
http://www.advancedracing.com/produc...artcambergauge
I adjusted the legs to fit my wheels and then can just hold it up to the wheels and get camber in a couple of seconds, then move to the next wheel. Same tool for caster, but that is a little harder. For caster you have to turn the wheel 20 degrees and take camber on both sides, then turn it 20 degrees the other way and take camber again. Caster is 1.5 times the absolute difference in the two readings on each side.

I am also sure there are many high quality tools available but I chose this cheap a$$ one as good enough:

I use the longacre bubble gauge. Works well and is east to use. Measures castor and camber. I string the car to measure toe. The most important part about any tool is the repeatability.

I have one of the digital caster/camber gauges and an old toe setting device ToeMaster or something like that. The bubble type work the same way.
It's got a magnetic base on it that sticks to the hub.
These two things, a couple of jack stands and some good string is all I use.
You can use a tape measure for toe adjs. if you want to. It's hard with just one person aligning though. But it can be done as that is how I did it before I got the Toe thang.
Haven't got more than 200 in the whole setup and I too, do not pay for alignment.
Theres only three adjustments... that's about as complicated as I can keep up with.
You may want to take the money you are going to save and get a pyrometer to see how your adjustments are really doing.
That's on my list of things to get.
