Melting Slicks
I have heard mix reviews. If I am not mistaking, I believe something with the block is wrong. Either the original block but, decked and re-stamped, or a non original block.

If the car were without documentation but was totally original it might be possible to prove, but without documants and with a suspect engine, I don't think the car has half a chance. 435 blocks are otherwise identical with L88 blocks if you want to do restamping. And anyone can put an obviously non-original block in.

This car has been for sale for months. I have seen this Ad many times before. I'm not really sure what that means. Maybe nothing. 450K is a lot of jack to come up with.

There is a corvette historian who has been researching rare cars. When I bought my L88 he contacted me to talk about it. At the time the list only had 17 cars on it.
He gave me a copy of this list at the time but I don't think it is
proper to post it in a public forum.
Anyway, this car in question has been for sale since at least 1998, but
the price was only 300k then.

L88 motors had a "life expectancy" from the factory of 15,000 miles so seeing an original motor is even rarer than seeing one of these cars themself...L88 cars are worth what they are with or without their born motor if proven/documented...

Given that there were only 20 L88s from 67 and that only about 2/3s are known today, if this L88 is documented as being an original L88, it is probably worth it.

Actually even Roger Juduski's 12 Mile L-88 car doesn't have the original block. The reason it brought over 600K was the history and the factory documention. Real factory documentaction!- window sticker still glued to the window. The car mentioned above has been for sale for a while , and with appropriate documentation, it would have sold if it was an authentic L-88.

As Mitch indicated this car has been for sale for a long time. It was last offered up at Carlisle last year. I believe it bid to $150M. It is a clone that started life as a small block. Well known car in the corvette community.

Absolutley! I saw this car at Bloomington a few years back(could have been 1998) priced at $300K. The word at that time was that it wasn't a real L88 and I seriously doubt that it is real now!
