Default 67 Sting Ray (one owner 39 years!) Convertible 4spd NOM 350 Sunfire Yellow Documented

1967 Vintage Corvette Sting Ray Convertible (one owner just shy of 40 years!)I purchased this car from its original owners in July of 2006. This particular car has always held a high place in my heart, as it is the actual FIRST STING RAY I ever saw…. Not a replica…. The actual first one! (but that’s another story you can probably look up on the archives on this forum. ) Prior to its purchase, I hunted this actual car for close to 20 years.

I hate to let her go... but I wasn't offered the gold mine I thought I would be offered for my real documented 435 car, and I don't really want (2) 67's.

The original owner bought the car in March of 1968 brand new. The new C-3 models were out and this little 4spd C-2 Roadster was still sitting pretty at a Chevrolet Dealership in Pensacola, Florida. He purchased the car as the original owner and even kept the protecto plate, warranty card book and the original title all these years. The car has lived with its original owner for just about all of her 40 years, until very recently when I bought her as owner # 2.

Her 40th Birthday was Nov 21st. 2006

The original owner always kept her covered and garaged. He serviced her at the Chevrolet Dealership, ALWAYS. About 10 years ago… his local Chevy dealership told him it was too hard to find parts for, so he decided to just park it in the garage, instead of going to a shade tree mechanic.

The best part of this car, is that it is a DOCUMENTED no wreck car. The fenders have never been flared, or altered. The original bonding strips are all in place. The frame is STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW!!!

I bought this car and I had it carefully shipped in an enclosed car carrier up to the great Northwest where I live. I put her up in the air, and started to go to town on her!!!! I posted pics on the forum of my progress. The car sat untouched for 10 years so I put a lot of love into this baby to get her back into “driving” condition. This car is NOT a show car by any means… it is a nice driver. It was always used as a driver and the original owner, and I both wanted this particular car to be restored to driver condition and used… vs. Show Condition and left to sit indoors for another umpteen years!

The paint is a 10 footer. It has been repainted once, it’s original shade of Sunfire Yellow, probably 20 years ago. There are some chips and scratches in the paint, but overall it is has a nice patina, and looks cool. The biggest scratch is noticeable in the right rear quarter I have the picture below. If you are just going to drive it…Inexpensively, an airbrush specialist could make this car look like great!!! If you are going to show it, you will want to strip, and repaint it, but that should be a breeze as......

Don’t forget… this car has NEVER had any bodywork done, it is a documented NEVER WRECKED, FLARED OR ALTERED car!!! That is a SUPER RARE THING INDEED!!!!

The interior is original and pretty nice considering it is over 40 years old. The door panels, seat covers, dash pods, and carpet.... all original. The dash pods are very nice, guages are clear.

When I bought the car she showed ALL the signs of 10 years in storage… so here is a complete list of what I have done in the last month. It was not that easy…. But the hard work is done!!! Now you can have a solid car to drive and piddle with as your budget and or time permits!

New Battery
New Plugs
New Plug wires
New Points
New Condensor
New Coil

Fixed Broken Drivers Seat
New Exhaust Manifolds and Exhaust Manifold Gaskets
New 7 inch Chrome Rally Rims

New 4 inch bolts to replace the factory 7 inch bolts on rear spring, raising the rear end back to stock.
Tightened all lose screws inside and out.

Cleaned top with Magic Eraser
Cleaned entire Interior with Leather Cleaner and Conditioner.
Degreased and cleaned engine compartment
New Alternator
New Voltage Regulator
Wipers, and headlamps gone through, and working correctly.
Driver’s door inner release handle repaired.

I am sure I am missing something…

Here is what I can see is left to make her just the perfect driver.
The rear exhaust panel is hanging a little low, as so is the exhaust. If I kept it I would have put on side exhaust, as you may… so big deal!
The speedo and tach aren’t working, but most of the gauges do. I am pretty sure I have isolated these problems. The speedo cable is broken where it hooks to the tranny. The tach is missing a vinyl gear that slides into the distributor. The Original Radio Works, but needs the correct antenna.

I have a complete log book of all my receipts… Car runs very well.

I have not used this car at all other than to make a couple of trips to the grocery store… and to test her out after each repair.

This is a great opportunity for someone to buy in to a Documented un-wrecked or EVER FENDER FLARED 67 Corvette. I am the second owner on the title, but I have not really been a “driving owner” of this car, as I thought I would be.

I am asking 53,500 or best reasonable offer, I am negotiable

The car comes with the Original Title, and your name can be the second owner on it!!! The car comes with the Original Warranty Card and Protecto Plate.

She does not have her original engine. You can make her #'s matching easily... I could have bought the correct block last week on Ebay from a reputable source and had it shipped to me for a total of 65 for the block and 175 shipping !!!) Currently she is packing a 1983 350 with 1983 350 heads. She has plenty of get up and go! (the car was just a 300 horse anyways!)

Original Chrome Ignition Shielding and Spark Plug Shielding is all still accounted for, so is the original intake. Not sure about the carb. She does retain her Original 4spd Transmission, rear end etc...

feel free to call anytime after 9 a.m. and before 10:30 p.m. Pacific Northwest Time Zone

Thanks,

Jacob (360) 376-7420

Jakob:

- bit high $ for NOM

- how's the 57 coming along

- time to put time and effort into the other 67, it will always have more value and desireabilty

Hi Chris,

53,500 is JUST MY STARTING NEGOTIATING POINT!

Like I said in the ad I am negotiable

in the car's defense...

on the one hand, I could have made her #'s matching last week with a nice correct dated 3892657 block on ebay that sold for 65 dollars and could have had it shipped for 175. The original engine was just a 300 horse 327 anyways... now it has a 350 horse 350!

but on the other hand, I could never honestly go back and make it a never wrecked car if it wasn't, and it is documented by the original owner that I purchased it from that it has never been wrecked. Which to me is worth something.... as you can thump the door from ajar with your fingertip and it will snap shut as if it were shut hard. The panels line up perfectly. The frame is sooooo straight, it is awesome!

and on the other hand.... at 53,500 or best offer it is one of the lowest priced 67's, that isn't a rolling project, in the Northwest Region of the USA right now, and again... 53,500 is JUST MY STARTING NEGOTIATING POINT! Bring on the offers!!!!!

THE 57 is coming along slowly, thanks for asking. Look at the top of the general discussion board for a new thread I just posted in this regards.

Which brings me to your last statement, WHICH IS also very correct!!!
and I am working on the other 67, even my wife told me to concentrate my efforts on that car....

Besides finishing the 57, and replacing an engine in a 69 big block roadster, I am currently hunting and purchasing parts to finish the L-71 in the important car. Look soon for a post in how much it cost to build a L-71 from the phone! I just picked up my dated 391 square port heads last weekend, also a set of dated tri-power carbs. I will get them back from the rebuilder in 6 weeks and then my #'s matching engine will be almost complete.... I will post threads accordingly!

Happy Day! Jacob

Yes Rick, This car did come from Germantown, TN.

My home town the first 18 years of my life!

Do you know the original owner?

He and his wife are just HANDS DOWN the nicest people I ever bought a Corvette from!

Thanks,
Jacob

Jacob, I have been looking for a driver quality 67 convertible to replace our Triple Crown 67 Lynndale that we sold last fall. To much of an investment for us and thus couldn't/wouldn't drive the car. We live in Ontario, Canada so there is a bit of distance between us and as a result I would like to get as much photo details as possible in order to better understand the condition of the car. I was wondering if you might be able to provide a few additional photos of the car including front, back, door jams and deck contatct area. the alignment joints for the doors hood deck, the engine compartment, more of the undercar fame areas the tire carrrier, and perhaps you mihgt comment on the conditon of the frame end caps. My home email address is
67kramer@rogers.com

Thanks Steve (613) 821-1737

Could someone please clarify. On a '67, wouldn't "#'s matching" mean the original engine with last digits of vin stamped on the engine pad? This has always been my assumption.

yes you are correct,

I apologize, I should have added to that potential engine block purchase.... "borrowed the neighbor's G.M. gang stamp kit and restamp the pad"...

personally it seems like too much trouble to do for a car that was just a 300 horse anyways! Which is why the block was so cheap... no major demand for a 3892657 block. This is a really straight, documented car for someone to make either a regular driver, a KILLER HOT ROD, a Big Block Re-Creation, or even possibly a 327-350 horse re-creation out of, I would personally do all of the others before I made this car #'s matching as per delivered from the factory!

Thanks,
Jacob

Please Gentleman, this thread is about selling a very nice Not Original Motor Corvette.

It is not a debate or a place to voice your opinions about #'s matching.

If you want to discuss #'s matching please, please start another thread.

Thanks,
Jacob

according to the NCRS Birthday Book, The Sting Ray's birthday is Monday, Nov 21st 1966

According to the information in the original Warranty Card Booklet and Protecto Plate, the original 327/300 HE (manual tranny/327-300 horse code) engine was assembled on Nov 16th of 1966.

hope this helps

Best Regards,
