Looking for 1966 Corvette

The car in the picture appears to be a 67, if the front fender louvers are the originals. Out of curiousity, where and when was that photo taken? It appears to be the old Mahwah, NJ meet.
Do you have any idea where in South Jersey the car went? There are quite a few Corvette clubs in the state from Trenton south. I've been active in the Corvette hobby since 1976 and know a lot of people in different clubs. I could probably get you a list of the clubs in the south Jersey area to contact, someone in a club may know the car, even if it wasn't owned by an active member of a club.
The more info you could supply, the better the chances that someone would remember the car. Things like what year BB hood, the original interior & exterior colors, did it have a hard top, did it have P/S or P/B, etc. Also, do you have any other details from the owner who sold it in 99, such as did it have bumpers then, what kind of wheels and other modifications like 6 tail lights or removed emblems. Did you ask the owner you talked to previously if he had any photos of how it appeared when he had it or sold it. If you didn't, you may want to as it's much more likely that someone would recognize it from more recent photos.
If the car existed in '99, I'd bet it still exists today. With the popularity of 63-67's the last 10 years, it probably survived, though it may have been restored or redone during that time.
In 1980 I got engaged and bought a 74 for my wife to be. We were the third owners. In Nov. '81 we traded it in at a local dealer on a new '81 Corvette (which we still have). About 2 years ago I was vending at the Englishtown Swap Meet, a customer asked me about some 74 parts and we started talking. After a couple minutes, we realized he had my old 74! He'd bought it from a different Chevy dealer than I'd traded it to (but still in south Jersey) about a month after I'd traded it in. I had a number of photos and original paper work for it that I was able to give him. I wasn't even looking for it and found my 74, so I'm sure there's still hope of finding your father's 66. Good Luck!

Hi
You have very good eyes for shows. It was actually the Mahwah show, but after it moved to Upper Saddle River.
The last owner did not know exactly where it was sold to. He said that there was a third party that found the car for the buyer, so he had little to do with him other than exchange money for his car. All he said was it went "to a dealer."
I don't know what year bb hood. It wasn't the original color when he bought it. It had no p/s or p/b. It did have the teak wheel and chrom *****. It also had a Green Hardtop with Black guts. It had slotted aluminums.
From the last owner, it sounds like the car was pretty much unaltered except for the color which went to yellow, and the rear corvette emblem was supposed to have been stolen off.
My dad is going to see if he find some pictures of when he had it. The last owner said he had pictures but he didn't show us.
Thanks

Thank you Bill for noticing that.
I guess this wasn't his old one then and the search continues.
My father still hasn't found any of his old photos or been able to get any from the previous owner, but as soon as I can get my hands on some, I'll be glad to post.

It has been a little over a year since I last posted here. We thought we may have found the old motor from the car, but that search has since become a dead end. We tried to speak to the last owner again to see if he could better recall who he sold it to but had no luck.
A few people years ago had asked if I have the vin. I do. What more can I do to try to locate the car?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Last owner is now unreachable and there are no people left who my remember the car. The garage where it may have been is empty, so it is likely it was last sold in the late 90's (around 1999). Supposedly it was sold to a dealer who found out about the car through a Policeman from the Nutley, NJ area.
My dad is going to try do dig out some photos that should show the car as it may have been found (with the color being a main difference). I'll post them up here when I get them. Thanks to all of you who have so far helped and been supportive.
Thanks!!!!!

Post a few pictures and include a lot of information in the post. If the current owner decides to search the internet for information on it, he will end up finding you.
Go to eBay and do a saved search on the VIN. Be sure to take several variations, such as (194676S124766,S124766,124766,24766) and let it email you if anything shows up.
I had that running for my old '67 for years and one day in '07, it successfully showed up. Of course, it was about $90,000 outside my budget to buy, but I did find my old car.
Besides putting it in the C2 Registry, there is another website.
http://www.vettesite.com List it and maybe someone will find you.
And go out and search for the VIN yourself. I got one hit on it, unless you now live in NY.

It's a long slow process, so be patience and good luck.

Try this:
1. Go to http://www.add123.com/
2. Enter the VIN and hit enter (or search, can't remember)
3. When next page come sup hit search
4. If the car is titled in the US, it will tell you "Record found". You then send them $4.95
5. They will send you the state it's titled in, the date the title was issued, type of title if salvage, whether mileage is consistent and a couple other things
6. It will not tell you where in that state the car is, nor will it give you any info about the owner.
7. If it does not show, could mean it's been totaled. Could also mean it's in a barn, or a race car, or some other possibility.
Not foolproof but worth a try. Recently someone on here was looking for his old Vette and that search told him the car was currently titled in Georgia, within an hour or so of posting his question here. Let us know how you make out.

OK, I was half asleep and didn't see there was a second page, which included your VIN. I ran it and it shows no record.
Keep looking! That does NOT mean it's gone for sure - may be sitting in some dark garage waiting for you to buy it back!

I posted this a while ago. Bill specializes in finding old Vettes and is also a fellow forum member.
One more kudo for Bill Gould. I met him at Corvette Carlisle last year and had a great talk. Gave his card to a buddy of mine who owns a 29 Model A Gasser. With little more than an old drag racing time slip and a bill of sale, Bill was able to hook up my buddy and the guy that had built and raced the car in the late 50's - 3000 miles way on the west coast.

Thanks for running the VIN for me. I'm hoping it's in a garage and the owner either stumbles upon me, or vice versa.

Interesting. I checked a bunch of VINs and my '63 and '68 neither one return a hit. And they are titled, however, they have been titled by me for over 30 years. Maybe the lack of activity got them shoved into an inactive file.
