I broke my hairdryer and need a vert to help me out. I had tons of calls, every NCRS guy in the USA asking for dates and stamps. I did put NOM in the add I think just to prevent that. I cant find a date stamp on the engine, checked by dist, between freeze plugs, by timing cover. Anywhere else?

I have a '69 427 2-bolt block from a passenger car on a stand in the garage and the date the block was cast (not a stamped date but small raised casting) is on the passenger side below the middle freeze plug, about half way between that freeze plug and the oil pan rail. Don't know if all bigblocks had this casting date but all the ones I've owned had it there.

Paul, the good news is that the raised cast characters should be there, the bad news is (a) they are less than a quarter inch in height and (b), they're upside down. Couldn't be easier, huh?

Well, I will be upside down when I crawl under it, I guess I may have to use those glasses that are sitting on the table doing nothing. Thanks again

Ok, I am going to get under the car today and get all the numbers I can. I will get the trans, the rear end, the exhaust and intake, the carb, the glass, the starter, the dist, and I hope that makes everyone happy. I did put in the add NOM but most still want these numbers. I do have 2-3 really interested people and I am just venting because its cold here and I dont want to crawl under the car today and am bored.

Ok I got my fat **** under it and what I see its a 38850510 Trans p0206
Correct Intake and exhasut
Correct Dist
4519 carb
wrong alt
cant see starter
3869942 block with no date stamps anywhere just says Hi perf
Stainless all very nice
Bumpers a 7 out of 10
looks like new wire harnesses when redone
REAR was w 22 E 1 best I could see
Its a nice driver and is being sold as a NOM
Glass is all nice cant see codes
all gauges work except the clock and that works right twice a day. Best I can do

At the risk of sounding like rayvaflav, if I had not bought a silver 66 coupe last June I would be in Phoenixville Pa. checking this beauty out. Nothing better than a silver 65-66 BB coupe. Good luck.
