1966 Nassau Blue Convertible 2 Tops For Sale
1966 Corvette Convertible with 2 Tops
I purchased this car in 2003 and after a frame on restoration it was back on the road late in 2005. It is painted Nassau Blue (the original color) and has a 350 engine with a 4 speed trans. The car runs and drives great and it can go anywhere. I have put 2500 miles on the car since I put it back on the road. It is a driver. If you are looking for an original, matching numbers car, this is not the one for you. I have a clean title in my name.
Below are some of the details.
BODY AND PAINT
The body work and paint was done by J&D Corvette in Bellflower Ca. and was completed in December 2004. It was originally Nassau Blue and I had it resprayed in that same color. I added the big block hood because it was my preference. I do have the original small block hood.
The paint still looks excellent. It has one small paint chip on the passenger side headlight door.
I do have a hard top for the car and it is in excellent shape. It is painted the same color as the car. It is an early hard top and has the notch cut out for door clearance.
CHASSIS
The complete chassis was rebuilt back to stock but I did use polyurethane bushings all around the car. I added the original style power steering components and rebuilt the brakes (including parking brake) with Vette Brakes Products.
The Birdcage is in excellent condition. No rust.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The engine is a L82 350 from a 1979 Corvette. I had it professionally rebuilt at JMS Racing Engines in Monrovia Ca. They added cast World Products heads and used my 1966 L79 intake. It makes plenty of power while still being able to be driven anywhere.
The transmission is a completely rebuilt Muncie M21 4 speed.
INTERIOR
The original interior was bright blue and I replaced the entire interior in this same color. I sent the instrument cluster to Jason Oliver who completely refurbished the unit and did an excellent job. I sent the original radio to Vintage Radio Restorations in Oceano Ca. Bob replaced the original radio guts with newer electronics and added an ipod hookup.
NEEDS
The stainless around the windshield needs to be buffed and polished. I never installed the windshield washer system or the spare tire holder. I do have the spare tire tub.
I am selling the car because I have one son who is already in college and another rapidly approaching. I thought this was a car that I would be able to pass on to my children but I realize a college education is more valuable. So, it pains me to sell but I must. The car is in Claremont Ca.
My asking price is $40,000.
Feel free to call with any questions.

Nice car....love the color combo. You mentioned body work and paint was done by J&D.....what kind of body work was involved if you don't mind my asking?
Good luck with your sale.

Thanks for all of the kind words. While I was building the car I used this forum to obtain everything I needed in the form of information and support. I will post some more photos later today as some have asked for pictures of the engine and suspension.
As a little more history on the car, when I purchased it someone had done the 70's flair job to the fenders and fixed the headlights. Bringing it back from that to this current state was expensive and time consuming. J&D did an excellent job. As with any car that we build, I have much more in receipts than what I am asking for the car. But I believe the price is fair.
Again, thank for the kind words. Your opinions mean a lot to me.

Very nice car....this is a perfect example of why I tell folks to go a few extra bucks and get a car that is pretty much restored and good-to-go. Good luck with the sale. Sooner or later somebody will ask you about the birdcage so you should probably edit your first post and indicate its condition (if known).

Thanks for the reminder Frankie. The birdcage is in excellent shape. No rust. It is one of the reasons why I decided to put the extra money into the car. I have been very happy with my decision to restore it.

I'm also in NC and looking for a Nassau Blue coupe or convertible. I know it can be shipped, but I'm not buying another C2 without a personal inspection. Beautiful car, good luck with the sale.

The car has been sold.
Well Everyone, thanks for the wonderful words of encouragement. The car has been sold and will be making the trip to Australia. It will be going to a great home and the new owner will take wonderful care of it. He is a forum member so I am sure he will post some pictures once he receives the car over there.
