This car was a "barn find" that I purchased from the original owner about 15 years ago. He purchased the car new in 1964 in Los Angeles. The car was a daily driver until the late 70's. The original motor was rebuilt in the mid 80's, something broke after the rebuild, and it got parked.
Serial Number 30867S107201 (1/19/63)
Engine Number 3107210 F0102RE (Flint 1/02/63)
Paint 923A Riverside Red & Black Interior
Roadster with NO soft top
Options:
C07 Auxilary Hardtop (in lieu of soft top)
L76 327 ci, 340 hp engine
M20 4 Speed Manual Transmission
N34 Woodgrained Plastic Steering Wheel
U60 AM-FM Radio
I towed the car home, pushed it into the garage, and got busy. The problem with the motor turned out to be 2 broken push rods (valves to tight or over-revved), I had it running a week later. I got everything back in order, tires, battery, brakes, suspension and had it painted, put some leather seat covers on, good to go.
The car is very original, looks great, and is a nice driver with a few exceptions. Many items are original/patinaed and not "brand new" or perfect: chrome, emblems, lights, guages, dash, engine compartment components, etc. The paint still looks very good, but has a few chips and scratches. At some point it had a front clip installed, which could have been done better. Things that are not original: Master Cylinder (been looking), Alternator, Mufflers (Flowmasters- I like sound), Glove Box (have broken original), Tachometer (redline wrong, was replaced in '67), and water pump and hoses. What else: Hard top needs weatherstripping (it is always off except for shows), small oil leak, and it sometimes pops out of 2nd when decelerating. That's about it. Oh, mileage is 130K.
The car is in Simi Valley, California. Between Los Angeles and Ventura.

Bump
This would make be a nice Christmas Present.
My buying rule: "It's better to beg for forgiveness, than ask for permission"
Merry Christmas to all of you.

The 50th Birthday of this car is Saturday January 19th.
I am wondering what to do for this celebration, besides a drive along PCH. I have already bought of few presents: fuel level sending unit, some fresh oil, breakin additive, and new filters.
Open to other ideas for this celebration.

Today was my car's 50th Birthday, spent the prior week getting problems solved, an oil change and a nice detail job. Dad and I took the car out for an amazing drive, used up a full tank of gas and had a blast. So Cal had a great weather day, but a little breezy. We took twisty farm roads up to Ventura, then drove PCH up to Carpenteria, looking for a good spot for lunch, everything was busy, so we went back to Ventura Harbor for some chowder and fried shrimp. Then we drove PCH South all the way to Malibu Canyon. It was a good day!!! Thanks to all of those who waved and honked, it made Dad laugh.

Thanks Tom, for the advice. The shift lever does hit the console when in 2nd gear. I will put the car on my neighbors lift, and see if I can adjust the linkage. If your idea works, I will owe you cases of beer, will let you know in a few days. -Kevin
