Google Classic car VIN chek and you will find a site to tell you what State it is in. I paid one dollar but I think some are free - it gave me a ten year history for my 1962.

Thanks. I'll do it.
This VIN (actually serial number) was my new 1965 Vette.
I also had a new 1962 that was stolen. It was recovered a year later recked in a junk yard. The insurance company then owned it. I would like to find out what happened to it but do not have the serial numbers. Can you advise me on how I might find it?
Thanks.

Because you had me interested also looking for an older Corvette I put your VIN into a site and it said it had all the info for one dollar but I didn't go any further - I will see if I still have the site and the information. As for the wrecked 1962 Corvette that was a total loss in 1963??? - and no VIN?? Almost a needle in a haystack! It would be that insurance company who would know where it went and then that buyer to the next person and so on. Any part of a 62 Corvette has value and in fact I just searched for a month to find the left rear quarter panel for a 62 Corvette and found a couple - I might end up with part of my 62 Vette wearing you 62 rear end??

Hi
I tried today to get info on my 66. No luck as it needs a 16 digit VIN#. A great deal if your buying something 72 or newer.

If you go here it doesn't

They have some records for my car but I didn't pursue it come payment time.

I tried this site on a '63 - after "thinking" for a few minutes it said it had found some records but needed the $1 so I could view my report. After payment, of course, there were no records - said a "manual" search would be done - nothing. I did get my dollar back after using their on-line chat (at first they wanted to give me a "free" VIN search credit). Obviously it wasn't the dollar, it was feeling like I got scammed. Makes me a little nervous since they now have my credit card info.

I will get it for you if you like - I have an extra dollar and now that the Canadian dollar is worth more than US - It will just be 99 cents.

I just used the site that got all the details on my 1962 Corvette - owners going back 12 years - and your number wasn't found for a newer car.

Are you sure the VIN you quoted is correct? 194675S114505

This is the site www.vinaudit.com

OH - it cost $2.99 at that site..

I paid $2.99 at that site - mentioned above - the $1 only worked for 17 numbers and not old cars for me anyway,

that's interesting. The only thing that comes up for me after I enter the VIN for my 66 is an request for $9.99.

in further searching the www.vinaudit.com website I found the following under FAQ:

What kind of vehicles does VinAudit support?
We support automobiles, buses, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, motor homes and tractors. The vehicle needs to be built after 1981

Puzzled but no big deal

OK - I just did it again and got the full history and location for my 1962 Corvette from Vinaudit again with the short VIN number - not 17 - BUT - you are right - the cost shown is $9.99 - worth many times that for me - but maybe not for every one - below is what it gave me - 11 years of ownership.

VIN 20867S108566
Make Chevrolet

So it was registered every few years? Does that mean it was on and off the road or do you guys have registration for multiple years?

I assumed that meant it changed hands to new owners where there was a new registration? That is what it would be like in Ontario Canada where I am and thought that might be the same in NJ? I have written all clubs on NJ asking if anyone has it - I also put ads in papers and one on line publication asked me to do an article for Sept issue - it is www.allaboutvettes.com - and I did that of course because I had pictures and documents to include. It was kind of an all purpose vehcle for me in 1965 - would take it off road hunting, through fields and terrain suitable only for an SUV and also used it all winter. never knew what I really had then.
