Default 1965 Corvette Coupe Scam Ad

Hi everyone!

Someone put up a post last week with a craigslist ad for this car. Another person commented that he thought it was a scam. Well, it appears that it was. If anybody can help this guy out, please do so!
I was ready to send the seller a deposit as well, but only through paypal. When the seller/scammer told me that paypal was full of fraud and he wouldnt except it, only a bank wire transfer, i knew something was up.

Here is the persons ad that was screwed out of 1,000. I guess he is lucky it wasnt more.

A bank wire is a good thing. You have to show ID and have the bank info. Someone at the bank will have the info of who took the money but you will have to take him to court where the crime happened. That would be where the money from the wire was sent to. He could just skip and not show, and he probably has already cleaned the account out. You also will need proof it was for the car in the pic. If you ever think of doing this again, ask for the person at the bank on his side to send a copy of the title in the persons name you are sending the money to along with a bill of sale with the Vin on it. if they cant do it RUN The only sure thing is HAND TO HAND.

I didnt send the money. I was interested in the car, but things didnt add up, so I backed off. I feel bad for the guy that did send the money though. I dont know, the car doesnt seem like it's worth that much over 20 grand to me, so it seemed like it could be real initially.

I figure the guy wanted a 1,000 deposit because he knows it wont be worth the victims time or money to chase him down over such a little amount.

Scammers do it all the time, guys get the feeling they are getting a great deal and have to be there first. They dont want to lose the deal so they send cash.

I am sure they make alot of cash doing this. I think if you did catch him, he would say that you never got back to him and give you your cash back in front of a Judge. You probably are right that he figures you will never follow up.

thing is LE thinks that is your own fault, so prosecution is rare. best advise move on. not right but that is the world we live in. now if you could convince the guy you have the rest of the money (cash) and meet him, Louisville Slugger time.

Those same Corvette pictures have popped up before the last couple years at different US locations on Craigslist. You see those pictures = SCAM.

I never had any dealings with pay pal . Don't they have some kind of recourse or insurance. After all they get a piece of the transaction..... don't they ? I am sure it is not just a service because they have a kind heart.

Scammers will never stop. I bought some HD BBC rods on E Bay and they were junk. Seller wanted them back and would send refund. Well 17 years later I am still waiting. Great hundred dollar lesson and the end of e bay for me.

Yeah I was going to send the money too (from Australia) lucky I had a buddy who live just round the corner from the suppose address were the car is located . The seller wouldn't hook up with my guy so there you go, scam! There is nothing worse than sending your money in good faith and they do that.

At first glance I thought there was something wrong with that right rear fender, but decided it was a reflection! Whoops, my bad.
