Default FS:1964 Chevrolet Corvette 327-365 HP L76 Convertible

1964 Chevrolet Corvette 327-365 HP L76 Convertible:

My father did a full FRAME OFF-NUT/BOLT Resto on this car over 4 years as it is was a car my mother ALWAYS wanted to own. Info is all below verbatim from my father, and he is a straight shooter, no BS guy. He is only considering selling as his health has not been the best in the past few years, and the cars literally sit there other than when he goes out and drives it around the block once every 2 months or so. My father (Fred) can be reached at 954-614-7653 or fam13@bellsouth.net, or you can PM me if you feel more comfortable having me discuss instead. Car is currently in his garage in Weston, FL.

The Corvette is a 1964, original color Tuxedo “Triple” Black car, which is the RAREST of colors made in 1964. The Triple Black is confirmed by the VIN Identification Plate on the car.
The car has an original 327-365 Horsepower solid lifter Corvette engine, this engine was totally rebuilt by Jose along with the 4 speed Manual transmission. We installed all new stainless Spark Plug Shielding and an original specific to a 365 HP Engine Stainless Air Cleaner. Again, this was a total FRAME OFF, Nut and Bolt restoration performed by Jose and I and we used professional craftsmen to complete the items that we could not do, such as the upholstery. The differential was rebuilt and is also a Posi-Traction differential.
The MOST IMPROTANT part to a Corvette is the “BIRDCAGE” . This is the actual CAGE frame of the car that supports all the fiberglass body parts. The Birdcage on this car is Original and PERFECT with NO RUST at all, retaining its original green protective coating from the factory. The issue with Corvettes and especially convertibles, is that the birdcage would rust and disintegrate due to the climate and due to water leaking into the car. When I checked the history, this car was originally sold in the Midwestern United States, but spent the major part of its life in Florida. The windshield and all the other glass is all original, the stainless moldings were all polished and are in fantastic condition. Also an extremely important part of a Corvette is the fiberglass body and what they call the “Bonding Strips”, all the bonding strips are ORIGINAL and thereby shows this car was never in a serious accident. Again, this car was professionally painted using high end SIKKENS paint.
Originally this car is a Tuxedo “Triple” Black car meaning it is black paint, black interior and a black convertible top. To make the car more desirable in Florida, due to the heat, I converted part of the interior color to Red. The seats, carpet, door panels, sun visors are all new, but red in color. These can be easily removed and changed back to Black if desired, but I think it adds an excellent contrast in colors to the car. The only items that we have not yet restored on this car is the convertible top, it is still hanging in my garage. We do have most of the weatherstrips for the convertible top, we just never got around to restoring it. At worst case, it would cost around $700 to $1000 to restore the top. The hub-caps on the wheels are for a 1963 year Corvette, as they look nicer. The AM-FM radio was professionally restored. The dash pads were replaced, the Instrument Cluster was rechromed and restored professionally. All the brake and fuel lines were replaced with stainless steel lines. The gas tank is new.
To make the car safer and easier to drive, we upgraded the brakes to a better, more modern 1967 Corvette style Brake Master Cylinder and Power Brakes by installing a power brake booster, we also installed Power Steering to make the car easier to maneuver.
Another difficult part of a Corvette are the power headlights, as these were also completely restored, with the power motors completely overhauled. They function perfectly.

An identical Corvette recently sold at the MECUM Auction for $58,500. http://www.mecum.com/lot-detail.cfm?...=FL0114-175480
http://mecummedia.com/auctions/lot_d...;entryRow=2861

While this Mecum Corvette has the reproduction knock off wheels and the reproduction side pipes, my Corvette has the much more desirable 327-365 HP L-76 Solid Lifter engine.
My car does have the original rims (Metal Wheels) that are hard to find.

Hagerty values this Corvette, on a Condition 2 (Yellow line on the graph) at $60,600

No-front brakes are Factory drum brakes-stops straight and on a dime, Master cylinder and power booster are upgraded.

Hi all,
I haven't been on the forum in a long time.
When I completed the restoration, I actually was contacted by the 2nd owner of the car, which told me he like the look of the 63 hubcaps better, so he swapped them out. He also sent me a couple of pictures of the car from way back when. Then I tracked the next owner, but he had passed away. I did speak to his widow, but she did not have much history info to offer.
I don't know if making comments on the for sale threads are allowed, so if you want any further info, feel free to email, call or PM
Thanks,
Fred

In answer to your question, comments that promote or advance the sale are allowed. Reasonable, relevant questions are also allowed.

However, nit picking, pointing out flaws or imperfections, criticisms of the price, etc are not allowed. Sellers should not hesitate to post here because such things fall under Interference in a Sales Thread and will result in sanctions. Members who note these posts, which mods cannot always see, are encouraged to click the "report post" icon and they will be addressed.
