[SOLD] 1966 L79 4 spd Rally Red coupe [Los Angeles]
SOLD to local guy Kerouac to keep his '65 company.
Time to travel and perhaps move onto another car, so I'm selling my 1966 Corvette Coupe, a California car since at least 1975. It is in what I would consider excellent condition for a driver (driven nearly every weekend). It looks good in local shows but is no trailer queen. Excellent performance from all components.
Asking price $57K (no trades).
58K original miles (14K since restoration & engine rebuild).
Original, matching number L79 350 HP engine.
4 speed transmission (matching number on case; recently rebuilt).
3.36 positraction.
Rally Red (orginal color) in 25 coats of lacquer.
Black vinyl interior in very good condition (original passenger's seat cover, new driver's cover).
AM/FM radio (I suspect it is original) with power antenna.
Unassisted steering & brakes (converted to dual master cylinder for safety).
All gauges work. Electronic clock with original appearance.
Previous owner installed an MSD ignition system.
Bumper chrome in very good condition.
California 1966 issue black plates (not original to the car) will transfer along with the car (if CA buyer).
New in the past 3 years/4K miles: Clutch, transmission (rebuilt), radiator, hoses, tires, battery, wheel bearings, front ball joints, fuel pump, master cylinder (converted to dual)
Thoroughly documented from 1975 onwards in a thick binder, including photos from its restoration. Written essays from two previous owners (yet to write one myself).
Featured centerfold in the February 2014 issue of V8 Magazine (Finland), with photos taken by Peter Linney (1st photo below).
Included with the car are a wide variety of books on classic Corvettes, assembly manual, 1966 NCRS Restorer DVD, service manual.
Known defects: The lacquer paint looks great and has a deep color you don't get from the usual paints, and it buffs up really well, evidence of the car having been cared for (soft custom-fit car cover included). To be honest, if you look from 2 feet there are a few small defects from age, but nothing can be seen from 5 feet. The MSD control box sits in the engine bay - it could be moved somewhere less conspicuous, but I haven't bothered.
Asking price $57K. No trades, wire payment only. I'm in the Los Angeles area. Please private message me.
