No affiliation... VERY Unfortunate to say the least!
Do you pros think it can be rebuilt for less than the finished value? Mike

The answer will depend on how much you have to pay to buy it in it's present state. It appears to be a car worthy of restoration if it can be purchased reasonably.

"Well, from only the pictures and description given in the ad to go on, it looks like about $xxx to fix so if you could buy it for $xxx it might work out if you enjoy such things such as root canals, nasal surgery etc." LOL Mike
My unprofessional SWAG would be $20K parts and $40K labor.

I think it is one of those projects that will likely involve more than you think once you get into it and determine how much was actually lost in the fire (dash, wiring, mechanicals, body, interior). How much can you do yourself vs. farming it out completely??? I would think that anyone bidding should do a thorough inspection so there aren't more surprises than you will inevitably get into once you own it. It could be worth the risk at it's present bid of $20,000 but hard to tell looking at pics.

Just my opinion here, but I think a lot of these type of projects are being sold trying to make money on their cars after the insurance company has paid them off. I have bought a couple of these types of cars and it always seems to be the case. Now if the owner underinsured their car well shame on them and good luck with the sale. Both of the burn cars I bought, even after the insurance company paid the owner, because the owner held the title, they never showed up as salvage vehicles. Just my experience here. Who knows the real story on this one. And I agree, there is a ton of $$$$ to bring this one back. But if you can do 'ALL' your own work, then maybe.....
