1963 Corvette Convertible
1963 Corvette Convertible-SOLD SOLD SOLD
I spoke with a few mid-year experts. They suggest a price of $42k USD.
Ermine white with red interior. I’ve owned this car for 5 years. I purchased it from a gentleman who owned it for +25 years. He parked it in his basement and drove it occasionally. He told me he never drove it in the rain and I have no reason not to believe this.
The paint is in very good condition. It’s not a base/clear. Looks like lacquer. There are no cracks, spider webs or other things that plague Corvettes. There are a couple of nicks on the deck lid and by the passenger door. I can send you pictures of these.
It’s a 327/300 horse with a Muncie 4 speed. Corvette purists would identify the Muncie as incorrect since it should have a BW. Build date was October 1962. Photos of VIN, body tag and other pictures below. The stamp reads F1014RD which according to websites means Flint, October 14th, 300 HP. The engine has a small oil leak that I haven’t had time to chase down.
The block stamp reads 3782870. Rear end reads 3830308, bell housing is 3788421. Corvette experts can interpret better than I.
Since I’ve owned this Corvette I have installed a new, correct ,reproduction gas tank and insulator. The old one had a dent. The tank was bought from Paragon.
The top is in very good condition. I also have a brand new, never out of the box top that goes along with the car.
It needs the rubber weather strip for where the hood meets the cowl. I have this but never installed. I put correct GM rad hoses on but the hose clamps are not correct for the year.
Windows are all in good condition including the rear window in the convertible top
Also, the temperature gauge sending unit is faulty. I’m going to Paragon in two weeks to pick it up. This will be fixed prior to sale. The odometer reads ~47,000 miles which may or may not be accurate. I think it is the latter.
The bolt on knock-offs were bought 2 years ago. I still have the correct steel wheels and hub caps. These too will go along with the sale.
Exhaust is relatively new but has new Magnaflow mufflers.
From the previous owner’s records, the manufacturing date on the Crown is 9/62 and Pinion is 9/6/62. The rear-end ratio is 3:36. All new bearings and u-joints installed in 2007. They probably have few miles on them.
Brakes are drum. Stop very well. Uses Silicone brake fluid. Parking brake works well. You will notice it has a dual master cylinder. Originally had a single reservoir. Manual brakes and manual steering.
I’m reluctant to see it go but my wife wants a new kitchen and I only get to drive it in the summer one day a week. I have a heavy travel schedule across the country. The car is located near Toronto. Buyer will be responsible for viewing it and shipping it.
I’m probably missing somethings so please don’t hesitate to ask. It is currently stored in my heated garage.

Hey Stuartc63 - on the left side of your screen above the first post, and below the last post, is a black button that says " new reply". Using that one lets you just type your reply, and that's all that will appear. Using the "reply" button on the lower right of each post will quote that whole post - including 15 photos or however many there are. It's just a lot easier for folks to see your actual answer instead of the whole string of pics all over again.
