Default 65 Vert unrestored for sale Sold Pending funds

I have an unrestored original paint no rust 65 vert 327/350 original motor and 4 sp trans, replaced differential (about 1971 I think) haven't checked but probably 3.08. has one small repair to the left rear corner other than that no hits at all and no damaged to the interior structure. Mfg 12/31/64 and sold through Harry Mann Chevrolet in Los Angeles.
Runs very smoothly. New top, gauges rebuilt, new brakes in 2000 then stored for 15 years. I bought it in early 2014, rebuilt the front end, new springs, bushings and tie rod ends, repack front bearings, replace rear spring and all shocks, 4 wheel alignment and new tires. Gauges and radio work, right headlight a little lazy I think it just needs cleaned. Not much history on the car, I bought it from a rancher in Chico CA. Selling it as I bought a 63 to semi resto-mod. Looking for $50,000.

It is available for inspection. I have tried and cannot get good photos of the block numbers.

Here is what I have to date. I will have to see if I can get access to a lift for chassis photos, It is supposed to snow here today that may delay it some. There is a hard top purchased separately by my seller, it will require some restoration and the car was a hard top delete so no mounting holes at this time. I do have to say that the paint looks better in the photos than it is. It is 51 years old and up close it shows.

What is the REDLINE on the tach? 6000 or 6500? Engine looks like a 350hp. 365hp was dressed the same from the top.

SORRY LARRY,
I FINALLY READ THE ADD. ''I have an unrestored original paint no rust 65 vert 327/350 original motor and 4 sp trans, replaced differential (about 1971 I think) haven't checked but probably 3.08. has one small repair to the left rear corner other than that no hits at all and no damaged to the interior structure. YOU MUST HAVE DEALER PAPERWORK TO KNOW HARRY MANN CHEVROLET. And yes, vin 5754 is a NEW YEARS EVE CAR. Last vin made in Dec 1964. This car is 29 cars prior made the same day.

What is the engine number you can not photo? Should be 5105725 F1218HT or close. E21 on the trim tag is the A.O. Smith body build date, or December 21, 1964. The body was shipped by rail from Michigan and then assembled with the car. The engine could be later than 12-21. St. Louis made bodys also, but A.O. Smith supplemented production from Jan 64 thru 1967 production. They could not make enough to keep up with demand.

Redline is 6000, engine is 5105725, FI208HV, Can't see the casting date due to shielding. I got the Harry Mann info from NCRS; however, it appears to have been a California car its entire life. still working on lifting the car for chassis photos. I can trace the owners back to Nov. 2000, at that time it was purchased from a title loan place near the LA airport. He had no info prior to that purchase.

65 350 HP and up motors small blocks.....last year dressed with chrome and last year of the 2.5" exhaust manifolds...then GM got cost conscious I guess. Good luck with the sale.

F1208HV is Flint, 1208= Dec 8, 1964, ''HV'' is very interesting. It was a TRANSISTOR IGNITION car when new. Does it still have the TI distributor? It would be #1111088 on the small aluminum band around the base. Also will have the TI box in front of the radiator passenger side bulkhead behind the grill. It may be on the driver side also as 64 TI cars had them mounted there. There will be a number on the coil. You show photos of the HOLLEY CARB. What are the numbers on the air horn front?

2818-1 is the CORRECT NUMBER for 1965 engine 350hp and 365hp Corvette. The 0127 is the date code. 012= Month and day=January 21, 7=year of mfg, 1977. So it is a correct service replacement made by Holley and probably sold at the Chevy dealership.

The car shows care.

I do not see a ballast resistor on the firewall, so it appears to be the original TI distributor. Wire harness has little wear, so low miles may be the original.

The more I see, the more I like. The TI BOX is hard to photo. If you lift the hood, and get your cell phone inside, you will have success.

Cant wait to see driveline and chassis on the rack. Those photos will show and tell a lot. Vin number should be on transmission, and diff will have letters and date on the case in front of the rectuangler mount bracket.

Thanks for the comments. I have learned more about the car in this process than in the two years I have owned it. You are correct, no ballast resistor.

Here are a few photos of parts.

64 TI AMPHLIER

1965 TI BOX, as LARRY SAID Passanger side. I get confused as Chevy moved them every year it seams from driver side to passenger side, and in the engine compartment to the front bulkhead as shown below. HEAT is the enemy, and also stone debris entering the front of the grill area. Take you time and look close. Only 552 cars in 64, 3686 in 65, 7146 in 66 and 5759 in 67 had TRANSISTOR IGNITION. Considering all 396, 427/ 425hp, and 427/435hp had the option mandatory, that meant regular 327 Corvettes did not use this great distributor. TODAY.......EVERY CAR HAS A SYSTEM SIMILAR TO TI IGNITION. That is another lesson.

66 TI BOX

1966 DIFFERENTIAL STAMP FA 8 6 66 which is 3,70 positraction Heasvy Duty, used in 427 engine cars. 8 6 66 is the date August 6, 1966.

Correct altgernator should be a 1100697 which is a 60 amp used with 350 and 365hp and ti distributor. Hard to read your numbers, but it may be a service replacement also

Exhaust looks like fresh correct reproduction, with the pipe and muffler all one unit. Is it N-11 ''off road'' mufflers?

The hard top looks like a correct 65 or 66 NASSAU blue unit......needing weatherstrip and general restoration. As you said, a mounting kit is needed as the car never had a hard top. It is a nice added $2000 value item however.

I understand the steering wheel cover is to ''protect'' the wheel. Are there any cracks in the wheel the cover is hiding?

The exhaust is a stainless one piece like the N-11's no record of it's origin. Not exactly fresh as I didn't put them on and my seller didn't and when I talked to the seller he got it from and discussed what he had done it wasn't mentioned. So at least 16 years old, probably more but still sounds good.

The wheel cover is just because it felt better to me. Here is a photo of it without the cover.
