1965 Coupe project for sale
Car sold at asking price. Thank you all for the interest. This was originally blue/blue small block 4-speed car. Mostly complete, partially disassembled. It has an excellent birdcage with no issues, and the frame has been removed, cleaned, and repainted in 2004. It has no rust and no damage.
Previous owner bought the car in 1974 and took it off the road several years later. He had started changing it to a maroon interior, so it has great original maroon 65 seats, maroon door panels (and the blue set also) and excellent maroon dash with uncracked vinyl pads.
In 2004 he and his soon totally disassembled the car and had the frame done--that is as far as they got. From that point on it sat, totally disassembled, until this spring. I brought it home on a trailer and 4 pickup truck loads.
I have attached front and rear suspensions, put the body on the frame, installed the doors, etc., and have all the rest of the parts I acquired with the car.
The headlight assemblies are complete and the motors work. the doors are complete internally and work. they have not been aligned, so don't worry about the picture with the gap on the top. They have just been hung so the car is closed and more transportable.
All the glass is in good shape, and all but the windshield is original. ALL front and rear window moldings, inside and out, are present.
It has good original trim tag and VIN tag, and matching title.
Sidepipes and covers and sidepipe rocker moldings are there, even though it was not an original side pipe car.
Dash cluster is complete, rear defroster is there, all dash wiring appears to be there, luggage compartment is complete, headliner halo panel is there, it has original front bumpers, 2 sets of rear bumpers, and a good 66-67 grille. An original undamaged GM hood is with it.
Under the hood is reasonably complete but not reinstalled. Radiator (NG) is there along with shroud, 66 327 with heads, intake, Holley carb, 66 air cleaner are there, but not installed. Hurst shifter, bell housing, clutch parts, Muncie, driveshaft are all there, as is gas tank and gas tank neck, bezel, door, etc.
Please note that this is a project and does not run, because many of those mechanical parts are with the car, not installed.
The strong parts or the car are the frame, the birdcage, the tag, title, and vin tag.
The weakest part of the car is the nose, as you can see. It is all there, it needs repair. This won't be running and driving in a week.
There is previous repair prior to 1974 on the right rear, and it needs nothing there at all--it's a great repair. There are small cracks in each rear wheel well from the PO being a moron. He was really good at taking things apart and spreading them out all over in his garage and attic.
The spare tire carrier is included as are 4 hubcaps. No original wheels.
There is damage, as shown in the one picture, on the center console where a u-joint let go in the past. The PO, of course, fixed it poorly.
I inventoried all the parts as best I could when I brought them home, and with conservative estimates I came up with over $26k in parts.
I'm selling because I need to finish my 71 LT-1 and not get sidetracked with too many other projects.
I'm asking $18,500.
The car is located southwest of Milwaukee, WI, about an hour and 15 minutes from Chicago O'Hare airport.
I'm happy to answer your questions, but please respect my time and be serious about your interest in the car before you take a lot of my time. I am not interested in giving the 65 away--I know its value, and in the same way that I am not being ridiculous, I ask the same of you.
Thankyou.

Agree, a very nice project for the right person. Similar condition to my current 65 FI car when I found it many years ago and started from the ground up. I actually prefer to find projects like this, no worries about hidden surprises! I'd be interested, just a bit far to transport for me being in Texas. If you or the eventual buyer don't want the maroon interior and prefer going back original blue I'd be your buyer for that stuff, have Milano Maroon project and could use those bits.

That car is priced to sell and has some good bones to work off of. Good luck.

I am to receive a wire transfer deposit on the car right away in the morning. If that doesn't happen, I will go in order of responses. Between email, pm, and responses here, I've gotten a lot of interest.
