1965 327/300 hp with duntov cam???????
Was the duntov 30/30 cam with solid lifters good for a 327 300 hp car. What are the advantages or disadvangtes of this set up. How much extra h.p. would this set up make and how much more rpm could you expect.I just bought a 65 convert with this set up and seems to run very strong. Thanks Mike

Well, my opinion, probably not the best choice but if you like the way it runs and sounds, I wouldn't change it. It will definitley give your 300 a "personality". 097 cam would be a better choice for most people. Some screwballs like the Lt-1 cam best. They have no "personality" as far as I'm concerned.
You may note, I am not making any recommendations, only my opinion based on MANY miles on Chevrolet SHP solid lifter cams.

"Duntov" and "30-30" are two different cams. A special high performance cam will make more power over 3500 to 4000, but less below this point. Your choice. What rev range will you be spending most of your time?
If you want a SHP cam, the two best choices are the L-79 hydraulic lifter cam or the LT-1 mechanical lifter cam.

I was told that it was a dontov cam with solid lifters by a good old school mechanic. He said he could tell by the sound. My questions is still if it is a duntov cam is it a good quality cam and how much did it improve the stock 327/ 300 hp car. Thanks

If it is the old 1957 Duntov cam, then it will give about 25+ hp. Figure this way: A 283 245 hp engine went up to 270 hp went it got this cam. These are 1957 factory figures. Since you have a 327, you will get a little bit more.

On a 327 I would definitely recommend advancing the L-82 cam to get back to 110/118, and this is optional on a 350 to improve low end torque at a slight cost of top end power.
