Weight of 327ci cast iron engine
My sister is bringing my old 1964 corvette engine from Las Vegas, so I need to get an engine stand for it.
Does anyone know the approximate weight of a 1964 small block 327ci completely built with aluminum manifold.

... er, it's between 300 ~ 350 pounds if my old mind recalls. Sorry about the 400 answer.

The dressed weight of a sixties vintage production SB is around 550-575 pounds and an iron head BB is about 125-150 pounds heavier. It also depends on configuration. An engine with an auto trans flexplate is lighter than with a 30 pound flywheel for a manual, and A/C and P/S add weight.
"Dressed weight" refers to the engine with exhaust manifolds, starter, front end accessories, flywheel or flexplate, and the manifold/carb or FI system - essentially the configuration as it comes off the engine dress line in production.
I think the dressed weight of the Corvette LS1 with manual trans flywheel is a little under 500 pounds.

P.S. The original owner of the '67 "12-mile L-88" (that I helped disassemble when new) was a six-foot 220 pound weight lifter. He could pick up the bare L-88 block - no problem!!!
