Default Speedometer repair

Last weekend the speedometer in my '64 coupe suddenly ceased to function. Armed with suggestions I received off this forum earlier this week, I checked the cable on both the transmission and speedometer ends and found both ends to be nice and square. The cable seemed to turn quite easily within the sheath. The drive gear on the transmission end looked fine, as well.

After reinstalling the cable, the speedometer needle still failed to move. I'm now thinking the problem is with the speedometer itself.

Anyone out there have any good recommendations for where to send it for repair?

Schaumann Auto Electric, 4831 W. National Ave, Milwaukee WI 53214, 414-383-4208.

Old-fashioned speedo repair place that did nice work for me about 5 years ago; seemed more reasonable than shops with the 'corvette' word in their name. Have fun with the removal adventure ...

Default Try these guys - Palo Alto Speedometer

www.paspeedo.com They're located in Palo Alto, California, and do mail order work from all over the world, on all types of gauges, insturments, and radios. Yeah, they are that good! They do both mechanical repairs and cosmetic restoration. I live and work (2 blocks from my office!) nearby, and have had them do several jobs for me. Always been extremely pleased with the quality of the work. They're not the cheapest around, but you do get what you pay for.

Default Speedometer Repair

I agree w/ mdzo6vetter I had my speedometer & tach redone while I waited. Took about 1 1/2 hrs. He calibrated speedo, tach & checked all other gauges. Total $260.00. I put it back in last weekend and it works fantastic. Ricks Restoration Services Joppa Md.

Jason @ Vette Instruments repaired my speedometer & odometer and did a great job. I don't remember the price exactly, but it was around $100 or $150.

I've had excellent results using North Hollywood Speedometer & Clock in north Hollywood, CA on both my 64 and my 56. They will do just repairs or repair/restorations.

Anyone know if Jason Oliver is still in business repairing speedometers ?

I see he hasn't visited the CF since 2011.

Thanks
