Location of VIN on mid year

Le Mans Master
yes
it's up in the kick-up area of the frame by the rear wheel on the drivers side.
If you remove the rear wheel and get in there with a small mirror and light you should be able to see it.
Obviously that's an area that tends to get a bit dirty and not cleaned very often and on some cars ever so you may have to wipe the area clean first.
I think i saw a post recently where someone even suggested wiping the area clean than rubbing over it lightly with white show polish. The polish will get in the stamping and make it easier to see and read.

I have a 66 and it is located exactly where Kurt stated. This is in addition to the one stamped under the driver's seat and the one stamped on the passenger side of the block. Steve

Sure, my rear vin # is stamped on top of the frame rail by the driver"s side rear body mount. It is directly above the rear sway bar bushing ( I have a BB ) almost even with the rear body mount. As usual, you need a small mirror and a good light. Steve

Steve, Thanks, any pictures? My frame is real rusty. I will look right above the mounting holes for the rear sway bushing. You say almost even with the rear body mount? That I don't understand?? Thanks, Kurt

Look for the circular rubber body mount cushion. That mount is attached to the frame rail. About an inch forward of where that mount attaches to the frame is where my vin is stamped. It is stamped on the top side of the rail toward the outer edge. Looking at Viet Nam Vett's picture ( 09:08 PM ) my vin would be located on the top of the frame rail- just like Viet Nam Vett's only more to the right - just outside of the picture. I used steel wool to remove the undercoating on the frame. Be careful removing rust and undercoating - do a little at a time - these #'s are not stamped deep into the frame. Sorry I don't have any pictures - thanks Viet Nam Vett for yours. Hope this helps, Steve

Melting Slicks
when we restored my 1963 Z06 found the VIN just forward of the kickup on the driver's side of the frame, and also just above where my left butt cheek is when I sit in the driver's seat - and since it was "exported into Switzerland", the Swiss also put the VIN on the frame just above the left front spindle
