Widest tires for a '64 coupe?
What is the widest tire I can put on my ‚64 coupe? It has the 327 300HP motor. At the present, I’m running 205 70 R15 (German Specs).

I would imagine, the jump from 205 to 215 should improve the ride, or not???

anything wider than a 215 will most likey give you rubbing and hitting issues. in the front you will rub against both the frame rail at turn lock and possibly against the inner side of the fenders. In the rear you can hit against the inner side of your fender.
wider tires are great and most of us want them but not at the expense of cracked fiberglass when the tire hits the fender

I have 225/70/15. No problems but I am carefull at full lock turns. No power sterring so a little heavy in tight turns but also easy to control not to rub out.

always exceptions.
my neighbor had 235/60's on his '67 with no problems but many others have issues past the 215 size.
I think a lot of it seems to differ from car to car dedending on how the body is sitting on the frame and how the suspension is allowing the car to sit a bit higher or lower.

I run 225/60/15s on 7" Western Wheels on my '64 with no problems. The front left rubs a carrage bolt on a locked left turn which is not a problem either.
When I originally got the car, it had 235/75/15s on '67 corvette rims (DC code) and these also fit. (I still have the rims lying around.)
A club member runs 245's on his '64 with shaved lips. At a recent car show, I saw a '64 with 275s and the owner said that he had stock trailing arms and suspension. He was running the stock, 5-spoke Z28 Camaro wheels which look to be about 17"x8", but I'm not sure

I ran 235/60/15 tires on repro knock off's and had minor frame rub in the front at full lock. Thwe only issue is that these tires are at the extreme limit for width for the stock wheels. If you really want to go wide, you can get different wheels with custom offsets and fit at least a 245, and maybe more if you don't mind frame rub in front. I currently have 245/45/16 tires on 16x8 wheels with 4.5" backspace (zero offset) on my '66.

Sometimes i use images.google.com for image search and here i found this old thread
What is the widest tires you can use on the knock off wheels? Any new wheels on the market that is wide and fit?
I wonder if 225/65/15 tires on knock off wheels will work at the rear?
