Mono leaf spring 315 or 330 LBS
I have a stock 66 Roadster with a 327/300HP 4 spd. As happens, the rear spring is beat and needs to be replaced. I want to go with a mono l;eaf and for the base car like mine, there are 2 springs recommended: a 315 lb and a 330 lb unit......comment on which is best? HELP??

can't comment on the 315 . but i have the 330 on my 67.
one of the best upgrades i made. be aware though, you will probably need to upgrade shocks at the same time. the standard oil filled shocks wiil not work with spg. you get a very very bouncy ride with the std. shocks.

I'm not sure if you are asking this in regard to the different spring rates or because the two springs are made by different manufacturers. If you are asking in regard to the spring rate the difference between 315 lbs. and 330 lbs. is very minimal so I doubt you (or anyone else for that matter) would be able to tell a difference in the handling or ride quality.

So, are these springs really worth the money??
I called Volunteer Vette Products a year ago to order one, but the person i spoke with told me not to buy one because they tend to fracture or crack when rocks hit them. Is this true or was he just shooting his company in the foot b/c of a rumor??

Melting Slicks
22.000 miles
put one in...no problems with it after over 22000 miles....not quite the ride i was expecting though...i used the 330 and probably should have gone with the 315 in hopes of a better ride...make sure you get the extra long bolt kit...or else your *** end will be quite a bit up in the air..

And......................
IF YOU LOOK AT THE OTHER BOARD YOU WILL NOTE IN THE C2 PARTS SECTION....VBP IS HAVING A SALE....ON THE COMPOSITE SPRINGS....THEY LIST A 300 LB AND 33O AND 360 IF YOU ARE A DAILY DRIVER AND NOT A RACER I BET THAT 300 WOULD BE PERFECT...CHECK IT OUT.. ON SALE FOR LIKE 289 OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

Thanks, but does it really improve the ride. I have a newer leaf spring in the rear, but if one of these monoleaf composite springs will improve the ride further i would like to purchase one.
Thanks for your response-i appreciate the help

I use the TRW in my 65BB. It was offered in 3 different rates when I got it. I chose the middle one, whatever it was. Since I have BB, already had rear sway bar, added new Bilstiens, and it's unbelievable. Using the long bolt's as mentioned, my car sits quite low. The handling is fantastic. NO body roll whatsoever. I would never go back.
I like the TRW "butterfly" design better than the the other manufacturers. Also I don't know who makes the other "straight style". I have heard of TRW though...Since the butterfly design is more complex and probably harder/costlier to make, I suspect it is better engineered.

MUCH improved ride over the seven, which was a bit much for the street.
If you have a nine leaf and are looking for better ride then a 315 or 300
mono is for you.
