Default Need some info on a 3959512 Block

I'm looking at a 3959512 block and need some advice.

Block - 3959512 / Pad - CE 5n2-5

Crank - 4577X

Heads - 3782461

I don't have the cast dates but am trying to run those down. My thoughts are this is a 1965 CE engine and if I'm replacing the engine in my 1965 this would fit better than a correct cast number / wrong date code.

I thought I was looking at a large journal block, but the 4577 crank points to a small journal block. What does the x stand for?

Any input on that line of thinking would help.

PS - could this block be line bored to take a 350 crank?

speed-o-motive offers a 383 stroker crank for the small-journal 327 blocks. Try them for a 350 crank.

It wasn't so much as needing a 350 crank for a 327 block. I have a LT1 CE engine in the car now that runs fine. I'm going to replace the engine with a block that has the breather vent setup so I will have everything looking correct in apperance and not have to drill a vent hole in the valve covers.

I know chevy made this 3959512 block as a service replacement with large journals in the early to mid 70's (this was talk about on another thread). If I could line bore this block from the current 2.30 main to a 2.45 main I would just swap the LT1 rotating assy to this block.

I don't recall reading anywhere about this ever being done. I have a 327 crank and could easily build this up as a 327, but was just wondering if this is doable.

To much coffee and thinking.
