65 Vette Clock repair or purchase of another...Prefer not to do Quartz rebuild.
I took my clock out, removed the back cover and used electronic POT lubricant designed for TV ***** to lubricate the clock movement gears. After lubing the movement, I could manually set the time (I could not before I lubed it),,so I know now that the gears will move. I noticed the small electrical unit inside the clock appeared to be burned out (probably happened years ago). Anyway, I would prefer to purchase another clock from a 65 Vette, rather than do a quartz rebuild. Any ideas or input on buying a used clock ? Anyone selling them ? Thx...Elmer in Dallas

Some of the major vendor's were selling the mechanical
guts a few years ago as a unit when I did mine, check around.

...the major suppliers offer a mechanical movement replacement that's as simple to replace as the quartz movement...imho, it is not worth the money to send these things out for r&R :yesnod:

I had mine redone last Jan. http://www.clockwks.com/CLOCKWORKS/The_Clock_Worx 1-800-398-3040 they used NOS borg movements and it came back perfect and the total was $49.95 I'm not going to play with the guts of my clock for that little I just let them do it.

Why would you want to go with a clock with old technoligy which at best will probably
loose a few minutes a month when you could purchase a quartz movement and have an
excellent time piece. My clock was missing when I bought my 64 so my sons went in
together and got mine from Roger Scott at Corvette Instrument Service and it hasn't
missed a tick for 8 months. Think about it!

I recently had a mechanical rebuild done(65-67) by Dave Lindquist(Whittier,Ca.) for 39.00 & he paid the return freight. This was strictly a rebuild/repair of the original movement(NOT quartz) & No reface of the clock face.
