Default Where to get spare keys made?

I know this is a really stupid question, but where's a good place to get spare keys made? I was going to get another set just in case...

thanks.

Most any key shops should be able to cut you a key. They may even have the near original looking, shape wise keys.

Thank you. The kid at Walmart seemed most confused and did not have a blank. I'll try someplace else.

I go to a lock smith, not Home Depot, etc.

Pat' s Locks will make original type keys. He'll stamp the key code on there if you know it or send him a tumbler and he'll read the key code off of it. Pat's number is 410-879-9647

I agree. IF you want original Briggs and Stratton keys, with the correct knock outs and numbers, give Pat a call.

Pat is my neighbor. Lives about 100 yards from me "as the crow flies".

If you just want a key, try a GOOD old time hardware store, not a big box store like Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Chuck

I was @ Zip corvette a few months back and noticed they had the original looking keys. I assume you can buy your style and take it to a hardware or lock smith to get it cut with the original looking key.

Any GM dealer can cut a key. It won't be period correct, however.

Chuck, for the longest time I have been wanting to re-key my car to what it was originally. I have my original door lock cylinders but not the ignition cylinder. I have 3 NOS tumblers and two new GM tumblers to re-key the ignition cylinder to match the original door cylinders but could not figure out how to "look inside" the door cylinders to determine the original key code. Appears sealed and didn't want to damage them. So now I run with all "replacement" door cylinders to match the ignition. Looks and works fine but always (few years) been wanting to re-key to what it originally came with using the correct door cylinders.

Do you think Pat can help in this area or is he mostly just reproduction key making?

Thanks,
John
