Put Barry K. To Work Yesterday
At the Mason Dixon Spring Chapter Meet at Fox Chevrolet in Timonium, MD.
Barry "observer judged" in the midyear division. His wife, Linda, also did tabulations for us.
Thanks to BOTH of you for your help. I belive that this was Barry's first NCRS event.
We had 14 cars, 7 midyears, 3 solid axles, and 4 sharks. The day went well. We were "out the door" at 4:00 PM.
Had 10 Top Flights, and 4 Second Flights. Chuck

Yep, that was my very first time at an NCRS event
Thanks for letting Linda and I participate yesterday!
We both had a GREAT time.
I learned a ton of stuff OJ'ing with Rick and Bill including a lot of information that I've been hearing about and reading about on here for two years but seeing it in person and having it explained to me while i'm looking at it really helped to make me understand it much better, especially broach marks on stamp pads. Now I finally understand what to look for and what they are suppose to look like.
Also, I know my '65 isn't Top-flight material but I always kinda hoped she would at least 2nd flight at some point but after seeing and learning what I did yesterday I think she would currently 37nd-flght!
We had a great time there yesterday, got to see a lot of beautiful cars, learned a lot, and the weather finally warmed up enough that the drive back home was awesome! Not to mention that because I drove the '65 down to the event I came home with my first NCRS ribbon (a Sportsman)
Hey, what more could you ask for on how to spend a Sunday?
BTW, when I bought my '65 two years ago I bought it under the impression it was an original motor in the car but not knowing very well how to determine if the stamp pad was REALLY correct or not there was alwayts that very slight, very faint question in the back of my mind.
Well, after the judging I had two of the judges look at my stamp pad, one of them a very high point level master judge, and they both confirmed that the factory broach marks are there and my pad looks good and is "typical" of a correct factory stamp pad so that makes me feel pretty good too

That is MOST kind and considerate. Thanks to both you and Linda for the pix. Linda sent me about 10, and they look nice.
The Fox Chevrolet Timonium location was just great. NICE clean facility, BIG, and easy access off of I 83, I 695, and even I 95.
Looks like this will be our permanent home for the next XXX years. The service manager was VERY pleased with the whole show. Chuck

Bary and Linda,
thanks to both of you participating and helping out in our event! and many thanks for the pix, especially the couple of Lady!
FYI - Barry you really owe it to Baby to try and see what she would score in an NCRS show. there has to be one locally, or wait until we do our Fall show!

thanks for letting me OJ on your team. It was good to work with someone I know.
Yes, at some point i'll send Baby thru for judging just to see how she does, but after yesterday I nkow there are a few areas I would need to work on just so I wouldn't lose point foolishly. There are plenty of areas on the car that I know are wrong but I'm not willing to change them but there are a number of small items that I can make correct without too much unreasonable effort.
If I can have her ready for it I may try to do the Fall show.
In either case, I'd love to come back and OJ again at the Fall show.

For example, the intake bolts are currently black but they should be painted silver so it wouldn't be much trouble to remove them, paint them silver and reinstall them.
On the other hand, I know I'll get killed on points because of the side pipes and the BC/CC paint but I'm NOT willing to remove the side pipes nor am I going to get the car repainted again or dum-down the doorjambs, etc to try to make it appear more like the original lacquer paint.

nice to see you again also yesterday.
You can pull the pictures off my website of you want or if you give me your email address I'll send you the full size hi-res versions if you have a broadband connection.
It looks like there are six various pics of the car and one pic of your dad getting his cool Top-Flight award.

sorry I missed this year's show again. Hard to do far away Chapter Meets when I now have Thursday & Friday as my "days off" every week. Looks like a great new place-maybe someday I'll get back there. Looks like I coulda got in on some "Shark" judging.
