1963 Corvette Steering wheel restoration
Hi
I am debating weather or not to buy a new steering wheel or get mine restored?
Does anyone know of someone that does good restoration work on steering wheels?
Thanks

Two or three months ago Corvette Fever featured about a five page article on DIY restoring a steering wheel. Our old broken ugly one looks great and works great now because of that article.

I restored one for my VW bug, one time. If it is cracked, take a dremel tool and "v" out the crack. I bought some stuff from Eastwood, but bondo might work ? You fill in the cracks with it, sand and smooth it out. Then paint it, unless wood, or wood look alike. Its basically doing bodywork on a steering wheel. Don't know, how to get the woodgrain effect though. Unless, you get fancy with an airbrush.

Hi
I think I will get mine restored. I have and option to buy one that is original and in pretty good shape...(No cracks or breaks but grain is worn)
I think I be better off to get it restored and get some grain on it!
