Count on ProTeam!
I looked in the new flyer from ProTeam and while checking out the '67s, noticed that out of 21 listed, 10 of them were 435hp big blocks. Kinda makes you wonder, don't it?

VERY VERY interesting 435 hp tri power story ....back in 1986 while at a Corvette trip to Cape Cod , met a guy , who is an NCRS judge for mid/year Vettes, he had just finished restoring a 1967 convertable, remember now this is back in 1986...........he did a great job & it was a beautiful mosport green & had a four barrel 427, he advised me prowdley that it was " Completely NCRS CORRECT"...........now to 2001 , the same 1967 is now a 435 HP tri power & Black paint ............. asked him about the change in color & he says prowdley its the original correct color & one ove the few 435 original tri powers made...remember this is the same Vette,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Oops! Got my numbers mixed up, but the idea is the same. Instead of 10 out of 21 being 435hp cars, it was actually 20 out of 41. To ProTeam's credit, though, only 3 of the 435hps were red. Paint booth must be out of commission! :jester

P.S.
It's OBVIOUS that this guy is known by people here; his credibility is ZERO, and he's STILL a NCRS judge????? UNBELIEVABLE!!!! :mad

Well yes I guess it is shameful, dishonest and all those negative adjectives. It is also totally moot if people stop playing the game. If people just start saying "I don't give a hoot about originality down to dated antifreeze in the cooling system, I am NOT gonna pay this or that rediculous price for restoration work or restoration parts and services" then the incentive is gone for all this chicanery to continue. Just my . 02 Cents worth. Some of these high dollar speculators that have played on this originality craze will fnd themselves high and dry holding the bag with cars they cannot sell.
Wouldn't that be great. Fun cars available at reasonable , non inflated prices????

Well Oman I think the thought is a great one but I wouldn't hold my breath. It's just like the weekend Harley riders. They spend 25 to 30K for beautiful American made bike that won't run right and lives in the shop. Do you think Harley would stop the trend. I don't think so because the buyers feel it's status. Another buyer is born every minute in a law office or doctor's. we have some of the same problems.
A guy I know of bought a 67 big block from Pro-team for 80K. When it was drop shipped he learned he needed the engine rebuilt, 10K later he realized it still over heats. He now has 100K invested and is afraid to drive through town for fear of overheating. This guy has four vettes and still got stuck. he is an attorney and said the Pro-team aggreement is so iron clad there is no recourse. Nice !

As long as there are dumb people in the world, they will continue to get hosed. If someone goes to Proteam and buys a POS, then they deserve the consequences. If the victim had spent 5 minutes researching Proteams reputation, he would have seen the consensus. More power to Proteam for fleecing rich idiots. Anyone who pays $80k for a car site unseen deserves what they get.
As for the NCRS bashers, every NCRS member I've met is very cool. If you happen to have a car that wouldn't do well in judging, too bad. Get over it. Enjoy your car for what it is. But don't bash an organization that strives to preserve these great old cars.

I have to report exactly the opposite experience with meeting NCRS members. For the most part I see **** retentive, egotists with too much money in their pockets.
I bought a car a couple of years ago and was excited abpout the purchase, I knew the car needed work and it was a numbers match car with a lot of original stuff on it. A neighbor came over to take a look at the car. No joke here....remember I JUST bought this car and still am jazzed with my new toy...first words out of his mouth "You know those KO's are for a 65 not a 66 don't you"? 66 had blah blah blah on the cones behind the spinners and 65' had blah blah blah". First GD words outta his mouth!!!!!
Fast forward a few months. He buys another numbers matching, NCRS survivor , 99.6 point car with da da da equipment and da da da rare options etc etc, etc,. Something is wrong inside the clutch linkage or the throwout fork or whatever. First he asks what I think is wrong . I take it for a drive and say well ya gotta get the trans out, it is either the throw brg fork, the pivot ball inside the bell hsg, or both, No sweat and afternoon of work and a few bucks ad your home free.
"Do you think shooting some oil into the bell hsg will help" is the first response. Nope says I oil does not heal worn parts. "Gee could you help me make the repairs, I don't know how to do da da da, that is a big job". Here is where my jaws get tight. First words outta his mouth about my car are about what is wrong, first words outta his mouth when something is wrong on his car are "Can you help me, I don't know nothing about anything (other than spouting the numbers and raggin on somebody elses stuff"). Well to me for all I care go take your Adams book and put it where the sun don't shine.
If I take my Vette to a general "classic" car show people come over and ask questions, talk awhile, have a beer sometimes and generally chill out. When I go to a NCRS Vette show my head hurts. People come over and look at my now mechanically sound but no longer numbers match car shake their heads, mumble or tell me what I need to replace and leave. Keep walking and keep you mouth shut is my view on these guys.
How would they feel if I walked up to them and said "Boy you are a dope to pay the parts prices you paid to get the car 100 percent numbers matching" ????? Then I could shake my head and walk away!!!!
I don't care if my car is NCRS certified or whatever, I don't care if these guys cars are 1000 point NCRS restorations. All I care about is having some fun with other people in the car hobby and with the car. I don't get that experience whenever I get around these NCRS bigots so I stay away from them.

Oman, so your neighbor is a dope. He's just jealous of your car and mechanical ability. You know the type. I call them "toppers" becuase they can always top any story you may have, car you may have, etc. They're usually trying to make up for some deficit, such as tiny manhood.
I know who Stray Dog is reffering to, and that person does have a way with words. I have learned to take everything his says with a grain of salt. Ever heard the saying, "consider the source"?
I can only speak from experience and say that the local chapter of the NCRS is filled with very cool, low key Corvette folks. They like all Vettes, even if they have wings, ricer decals, fender flares that stick out 5 inches, tilt noses, etc.
