Hi.

Can anyone tell me where to find the ID-tag on my 61 Corvette? All I find is the VIN# on the steering column.

Anyone knows?

GM didn't start putting trim tags on until well into the production of the C2 series.

Aha....how can you find out if the car is a matching#?

All the numbers matching are drive train componenets. The block should have the serial number on the stamp pad. By the way, trim tages started in 1963, not late C2.

The serial number on the steering column and the engine block (front of engine on the passenger side, there is a horizontal space just in front of where the head meets the block) should be the same. If not, it is not the original engine. If it is, then you can move on to other parts such as the trans etc. Darrel

just cuz the serial number is on the stamp pad doesn't mean it is original block! most aren't!
