What do you think of my buddies midyear?
My buddy came over to my place just hours after first starting up his new stroker so we could take it out for some "running in".
He built this in eleven months from a very rough non-drivable but reasonably sound example which he imported last year.
Early Vettes are fairly thin on the ground over here in Aus and he's allready taken a fist full of trophies and been featured in a national magazine.
Hope the pics come out.

To be honest, growing up in Southern Ca.
in the 60's / 70's (and 80's & 90's:lol: ) I have had my fill of modified vetes.
But the workmanship these cars receive is to be commended.

I think it's great that any representative of these great mid-year cars is on the ground in AussieLand.
Good on 'em!
Nice work too!

Over the years, I've come to realize that one of the things I value most in the cars I admire is the fact that you don't see them very often. And for that reason, I think your friend's car is great. Having had a modified 63 Corvette (complete with giant mag wheels and a flame paint job) in Germany several years ago, I'm sure your friend enjoys the looks and questions he gets when he takes his car out for a ride.

If you are looking for a good set of seats to hold you in the car, here is a good set that fit good and dont cost a lot. A little custom fabricating on the mounts and a set of three point belts and you have a good setup. Seats are leather, fold forward, adjustable back and are out of a 89 RX7. Good luck.

Stephen,
If I remember correctly the seats were from a Honda CRX with the hollow headrests filled in and the bases modified.
Mark.

Re: What do you think of my buddies midyear? (59er)
59er, this is off the subject but I noticed on your signature that you have a Muncie 4sp transmission in you car. Could you tell me if your Muncie has the speedometer hook up on the left side of the trans or on the right side. If it is on the right side did you do anything to the speedometer to make it work. I don't know for sure but I have heard that the speedometer works backwards if hooked up on the right side of the trans. I would like to hook up my speedometer to my Muncie 4sp but my hook up is on the right side and I am not sure if it will work there. Thanks for any response.
