My 66 Coupe has color on it now! Pics
My car was painted Sunday. Two coats sealer, three coats color, two more coats misted color to even out the metallic and four coats clear. Some color sanding today and buffing later this week before the paint gets too hard.

Man that looks beautiful!!!! Just a silly question how do they keep the paint from getting all over the underside of the car? Do they wrap the underside also? After all the time I've spent cleaning and painting the underside to look like new I'd hate to have over spray on everything once I make it to the paint stage... Dave

If you look close at the pictures you can see a line on the floor where they taped the paper right to the floor to seal off the under carriage. The gills on the side of the car are taped off from the inside.

Looks fantastic!! I LOVE the silver I'm heading up later this afternoon to pick mine up from the body shop (Rich, "BADBIRDCAGE" is riding shotgun). All of the body work is done and it's in primer/sealer. Now it's time to mock up the drivetrain again and figure out how to stuff 15 lbs of crap in a 10 lb bag Between the LS7, dry sump, computer, coolers, induction pipe, hydraulic clutch and other goodies there won't be much room to spare!!
Be sure to post some pics for us when you get the car home and back together. It's going to be a sweet looking ride

6t5c2-The final cost is still out there and hasn't been calculated yet. I will post that up here when we get it together.
Thanks for your comments guys.

Nothing beats a mid year Corvette. IMO a BB Corvette is the ultimate muscle car. Style, horsepower and a cool color just don't get no better than your car. Good luck and Congrats

Many "silver" cars tend to look more grey than silver, thus it's not been one of my favorite colors to consider for my C2.
But, having seen yours, I'm changing my mind. Yours is a true silver with depth. Really impressive

You stated that two coats of "misted color" were used to even out the metallics. Could you explain how that was done? Is it some color mixed in with clear, or the color coat sprayed on dry/misted?
I'm planning to paint a '66 in Nassau Blue and do not know if metallic is involved and it is any harder to spray than a solid color. I know the basecoat/clearcoat system makes painting metallics a lot easier.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Ralph.
