Holley street avenger size
I e-mailed both Holley and Summit with the following Information:
1961 Corvette, 3200lbs.,engine is a 1968 327 cu. in., current carb is a 1972 Holley 0-1850-3, intake is an Edelbrock C-3BX, tires are stock 6.70X15, trans is a BW T-10 close ratio, rear gears are 4.56:1, engine idle speed is 650rpm with a slight lope, vacuum is 14". Don't know what cam is in the engine but do know it is a flat tappet hydraulic that turns up 6500rpm! What size street avenger should I buy, 570 or 670cfm?
Holley has not responded and Summit said that with out the cam spec's it would be hard to guess but suggested I go with the 670. Now I know that the current carb is 600cfm and it seems to me the VE of a 327 is in about the mid 500's so wouldn't the 570 be a better choice?
Any and all comments welcome.

the street avengers must not be rated for cfm (air-flow)in the same way holley flowed the carbs in the past, the 1850 is rated at 600 cfm while a 80670 street avenger is rated at 670 cfm but both carbs have the same venturi diameters, the same throttle bore diameter and the same basic main body design, so either they will both flow the same air-flow or i am really confussed.
my point is if the engine ran good on the 1850 (600cfm), the 670 street avenger should supply about the same air flow as your old carb.

Melting Slicks
I have had the 80670 Street Avenger on my car going on 3 years. Can't go wrong for the money. I remember before I purchased it that Holley had a chart to go by to determine what carb you would need. If I remember correctly the 670 was for cars up to 350 hp.

Thanks for the reply ffas23. Summit racing's catalog says 570cfm for 300hp and 670 for 300 to 400. All I've ever read or heard says not to over carb tho' vacuum secondaries are much more forgiving than mechanical.
Following the math formulas says midrange 500cfm, but then not everything about carbs follows a true mathmatical line!
Thanks again,
Jerry
