Glovebox Door installation

Glovebox Door installation
I know this should be a no brainer, but I tried to install the glovebox door on my 65 and I couldn't get it on. The hinge does not appear to extend from the frame far enough to give the door clearance. The door fit fine when I took it off (3 months ago), but I just can't remember how it went on.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike -
The hinge attaches to the frame from the bottom - illustration is in the A.I.M. in UPC 1(asm), sheet D4.

Re: Glovebox Door installation (JohnZ)
Isn't it funny how something so simple can look impossible when you look at it several months later...
You say over and over,,,
I know I took this off now what the $$%$$#@ is wrong with it now!!!!
Always a good idea to draw it or take a few pics as it comes apart...
Then you can say.... "I know I took pictures, Wonder where I put them????"
Maybe we are just getting old..... Nah!!
It does bolt from the bottom.. the spring will try and close the door you need to pull it opened before fitting it to the bolt holes
Hope this helps

Re: Glovebox Door installation (damac)
I've been reassembling my 63 Coupe for about 18 months and, by coincidence, I reinstalled the glovebox just yesterday. It took me a little while to figure out the door hinge too. If yours is like mine, the key is that the part of the hinge that attaches to the door goes inside the door and not outside. In other words, when the door is in the closed position, the attaching screws go upward from below the door through the reinforcing strip, then through the lip of the door and finally into the nuts on the hinge. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help.
I put it back on last night. It would have been pretty easy, except for the fact that the hinge bolt holes did not match up with the holes on the hinge. After a few tries I was able to get it done by loosening up the hinge bracket.
