Where to grab the C2 Coupe body for the lift
The only things left to disconnect are speedo cable, radio antenna ground strap, metal splash shields, centre console and rubber boot.
I have a dozen guys lined up for Saturday, Sept.15th for the body lift.
Any recommendations for grab locations, assuming 4 down each side, 2 to roll out the chassis and roll in the dolly, 1 to take photos and 1 to sweat bullets (me) :eek: Or, to put it another way....where shouldn't they grab to lift? :nono:

With that many folks it will not make much difference. GM held it by the wheel opening lips of all places, with a little support in the center.

When I did it, I put one guy at each wheel well and the others in between them. They had to lift the body fairly high to clear the engine / gas tank, so I put the taller guys at the wheel wells.

'67,
Ensure to tell the guy's who are positioned at the body forward of the windshield (i.e. front fenders) that they are only 'guiding' it up. They should not be 'lifting' with the others. They should only try to stay at the same height as the rest, nothing more. (Sorry, I am having a hard time writing what I am trying to say.)
Anyway, I am going to have the same 'body-lift' party on the 6th of October. Except for mine, I am going to install the freshly painted body on the completed chassis.
It is easier than it looks as long as only ONE person (which should be you) is in charge when telling people what to do.
Good luck,
Gary

One thing I usually forget to do is to have someone or two watch under the body for falling body shims, shifter clearance, & ground straps.

I've done this more times than I want to count on Corvettes, Cobras, Grand Sport, etc. - the most important part, IMO, is to have a 5-minute "training session" first with everyone so they understand exactly what is to be done, how it is to be done, who is to do what, and who's in charge; have the body dolly all ready to go, and have shop towels or gloves for everyone so they can lift and hold comfortably. It only takes about two minutes, but it may take longer to finish off the beer and pretzels afterwards :cheers:

You guys are great.
Lots of folks passed on their experience, so I attempted a compilation to summarize it (mainly for my feeble memory on Body-Lift Day!) :crazy:
====================================
1967 Corvette Coupe Body Lift Procedures:
1. Slow and easy does it, folks!
2. The owner (me) is in charge and will give all instructions during the lift.
3. Everyone please wear the provided gloves.
4. Those FORWARD of the windshield are GUIDING ONLY, not really lifting; take only enough weight to keep up with the others.
5. No one to lift from the front or rear of car.
6. Job assignments:
- one person at each wheelwell (tallest people) lifting with open palms up inside the wells
- two people at each door (taking the bulk of the weight)
- one person to watch for (AND RECORD) falling shims
- one person to check for and correct for shifter clearance and ground straps
- two people to wheel out chassis on to driveway; same two people to wheel in dolly and help watch for positioning of body on to dolly on way down
- TOTAL 12 PEOPLE
- one person taking photos (mini-me "The Boy")
- one person holding her mouth (Mrs.-me)
7. Once done, cold beer and hot pizza for everyone.......oh, and no drooling on the big-block!!!!
====================================
I think I've taken all of your very welcome suggestions into consideration. :smash: :smash: :smash:
Thanks again! :cheers:
