Big Block Engine
I have a chance to purchase a 427, 4 bolt main, #3963512, date May 13, 1970 and pair of heads, rectangular port, #3919840, Jan. 1967. The only draw back is the block was decked, but other wise in excellent condition.
Any ideas as to price range?
Thanks

**If** the 3963512 block has a crankshaft that is 'externally balanced' and based on its date of May 13, 1970, then it is **likely** a 454 block used with open-chamber heads. There were 1969 427 blocks with this number, but they took closed-chamber heads. It's not wise to mix these two different designs as weird things happen to compression ratios and air flow.
